Not quite French but there are connections.

Haha I am in the process of baking my first loaf. Wifey has gone out for lunch with her sisters so I thought I'd give it a go. The loaf is in the oven and I've just finished cleaning the kitchen! [emoji1] I struggled to mix it in the bowl and added a little extra water then gave it a good old kneeding and let it rest. Actually I needed a rest as well after that but the kitchen looked like flour bomb had gone off so I set to and got it cleaned up. Once in the tin it did in fact double in size before I put it in the oven so fingers crossed.

Well done. I haven't baked any bread for a while, but I ought to have another go. I use honey in the water for the yeast to have a munch on, and it adds a nice flavour to the bread. My cousin, when she wants to add a nutty taste, will coat the tin with almond oil, and a little almond oil drizzled on top, before baking.

I can feel a "Picture of the Day...Home Baking Day" coming on. Could be even more successful than "Milton Keynes Day" and may even rival "Military Toilets Day" for participation. I know at least one of the forum sandans is partial to a bit of baking :-D .
