But as a fun second car it is very tolerable Richard and if driven carefully it can be much better ;) I've had nearly 40 out of mine...

fuel leak ?

I do not think I could do that if I left it parked up on tick over all day and then drove to the shops with it locked in 1st gear :)

It was instantaneous mpg accelerating hard uphill. Only for a couple of hundred yards then 999mpg down the other side :)

I shall do a relay the next time I have the car up the road. It is again at my daughters. I have no idea how long my drive will be out of order. The entire house is covered with scaffolding which was erected over a week ago, I have no idea when the work is actually getting done.

No, wall insulation. Because of the construction of the house it's getting 4inch of solid insulation panels fixed to the walls externally, then a wire mesh like later fixed to that then scratch rendered then harled. It's about 15grand worth of work so I'm glad it's being paid for mostly by a grant from the Scottish Government. The house will look better, the adjoining house has already been done, and should cost less to heat.

It should help. I have to keep the house at a constant temperature for my health so any saving is welcome.

Oh shush...I count it as a bonus if I see north of 20mpg out of the Saab these days!

Lada is too erratic to really chart at the moment because the carb is playing up, and anything from 18 to 30 might appear depending what mood it's in. Hoping to have real data once the injection conversion is done...

I used to get between 28 and 38 out of my H plate lucas fuelled 900 16v manual.

Rather less out of the 900 Ruby monster hybrid thing.
