X7 Aircon fan and pollen filter

Unread post by Paul-R »

So... my X7 blower fan wouldn't work on Friday morning when I started up for the morning. That made for an interesting drive in as it was the morning with the heaviest interior condensation for a while. I've hoped that it was a temporary glitch but so far it still hasn't returned.

I checked the 40A fuse yesterday afternoon (F11 in the engine bay from memory) and it was unblown and that was as far as I got with the temperature dropping towards zero as darkness set in.

Next step has to be looking at the control unit, which may have to wait for the weekend or beyond when it's warm enough. But before then a couple of thoughts.

1) Is there anything to be gained with a BSI reset? I could certainly do that with the cold weather.

2) When I (eventually) get down to the passenger footwell to look at the control unit I'll look at the pollen filter as well. I think this was supposed to have been changed at the service in November but I'm not sure. There are three filters listed on the bill. 9818914980 OIL FILTER is obvious. But the two others, 1906A7 FILTERING PAD and 647945 CHARCOAL FILTER, are not. I suspect that they are fuel filter and pollen filter respectively but can someone confirm?

A search on those part nos on e-bay confirms them as fuel and pollen.

Ta, thought they must be.

Now let's see what I find when I pull the pollen filter out...

May I suggest you wear a mouth guard when you do get that filter out. You may not want to breath what is on the dirty side!
