Now if only I could find one that's more local and affordable money...I'd be after it.

...Amusing though it might be to contemplate the logistics of driving something with a 40-ish mile range and 12 hour recharge time back from France!

Can it charge and drive at the same time? I think it would be more fun to bring a generator for the ride than trailer it.

Depends on the length of the charging cable...

I doubt it...From what I remember the moment you plugged it in and the charging contactor went "clonk" all the onboard systems were disabled save for the little blinking amber light on the dash telling you it was charging.

Likewise if you opened the driver's door - that shut everything down requiring you to turn the ignition off and on again before you could re-engage drive. Caught me out a couple of times that did...

That makes sense Zel as the last thing you want to do is risk driving off with the charging lead attached... Potentially very dangerous...

I was only joking ;)

Sorry...as often happens to me, the engineer in me had to come up with a technically accurate answer without actually thinking about the question beforehand!

This XKCD comic sums up quite accurately one of the main perils of my everyday life...

Me too, exactly  The number of times I've lost myself in a problem and been totally unaware of anything happening around me is legendary.

I must save and print that link... So accurate!

I used to have a printout of several XKCD and Dilbert comics pinned to the cork board next to my desk at work (before we got moved into the new building anyway and were no longer allowed to do such things), one of the others was this one... which sums up one of my main approaches to life of both myself and one of the main communities I hang around with these days.

Dilbert is at times, cuttingly accurate at what goes on in the IT world.. I know of no IT labs, my own included, that do not have a few pertinent Dilberts pinned to the wall..

Randall's (XKCD) 'What If?' series is brilliant, too.
I keep meaning to look for his book.

Bad time to be buying a new diesel!

http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/mot ... 10011.html

It's amusing how only 20 years ago diesels were pushed as the more fuel efficient and less polluting alternative to petrols with tax breaks and reduced fuel duties...how the wheel turns!

Interesting and well-written article...

I can see cars like Gabriel legislated off the roads very soon...

Better get the 207 fixed...
