Its been trailed for a while now on Radio 2, but tonight from 8.00 p.m. you can either listen, or watch on BBC red button, Simple Minds live from the Hackney Empire doing an acoustic set prior to the launch of this tomorrow

Have to admit to being a bit disappointed with my listening experience of the above. I do like the acoustic version of "promised you a miracle" with KT Tunstall who wasn't performing with them last night.

To be fair though it was probably the first time Simlpe Minds had done a set, on the world's tinny-est laptop speakers, so I'll give their arrangements the benefit of the doubt, and I fully expect the Album to be 100 times better. Heard/watched about 6 or seven tracks before the internet connection dropped out, but the sound was so poor that I gave up ploughing through the rest of the set.

His attention to detail was legendary. It included the way he filed his copy (paragraph 3)...

He clearly had fabulous choice in cars...
(The silver car in the background is a 4th gen prelude - of which I have 3 ;) and I see that it was in his 'must own' list of cars :D )

Watched this last night...
BBC iPlayer BBC Four
Tubular Bells: The Mike Oldfield Story
11 Oct 2013 60mins (on for 6 more days)

A real delight. So much there I didn't know, not least Richard Branson's part in it all.
Really had no idea of how much personal anguish Mike had endured, without which he probably wouldn't have written and almost single-handedly performed and recorded his one-track album.
A roller-coaster of emotion runs through the programme, at least for me.

Tubular Bells holds great memories for me...

Only problem is, I have a Christmas tree right in front of my TV...

Best place for it, I would say (barring around 15:00 on Christmas Day, when The Queens' Speech is on).

That is an excellent program.
It is also on Youtube:

Nice to back it up with the live performances:

Nice to see Richard Branson in attendance there :)

I bought the DVDs but just watch them on YouTube

That's worth moving the Christmas tree out of the way to watch. Thanks for the alert James :D

By way of explanation, the Christmas tree is currently in front of the TV

I have just found (on Drama, for those with Freeview) "All Creatures Great and Small", from 10:00 to 11:00. After a quick check it seems that this is on all week days.

Anyone want my TV and HD Freeview box and HDD recorder?

I'll not be watching any TV in the foreseeable and have not in fact for months past...

It's free to whoever wishes to collect it... It takes two to even lift it...

I've just watched a documentary about Chernobyl on iplayer. I really enjoyed it as it focused mainly on the engineering of the new cover for the sarcophagus. I didn't realise all the goodies they were putting into it and how they are actually implementing a clean up plan rather than just containment. Well worth a watch, even if you aren't fascinated with Chernobyl like I am.
