Car prices

Post by daviemck2006 »

At the car auction tonight, I chucked the berlingo in to cut my losses with the hg. It did not make its reserve so reentered for Thursday. Some prices reached were ridiculously cheap and some of them sold too. How about a 56 plate ford ka with 38000 miles, 9 months mot, usual ka rust everywhere, £20! Sold! Who cares that it is a rusty ka if you wanted a cheap winter runner. A 51 plate tidy punto, 83k tidy car long test £90. As above who cares what it is! A 57 plate top of the range toyota avensis d4d 150 miles long test, unmarked £400 My berlingo reached £300. I paid that for the bloody axle, and the receipt for the axle was on the dashboard for all to see. Bargain of the night for me though, and if I had had the money would have came home with me, peugeot 108 open 1.2 4 door. 64 plate 8100 miles covered probably cost about 10 grand two years ago. £1200 sold! There was a problem with it that would seriously limit it's market, it's colour. Bright in yer face pink lol. At 1200 notes though I could run it and take the raggings I would get. Until I saved up to get it wrapped say yellow or red! I hope there are less motors up on Thursday and the bid on the berlingo doubles.

The Ka was spot-on at £20... About its true value Davie

I've run a pink car in the past... My first R4 was pale pink... I got terribly ragged for it but who cares... Pink is just a colour...

Never bought a vehicle at an auction...yet, but do not enjoy the process of having to buy a replacement car as this thread The pleasures of looking for a new car..testifies!

So the seller of the Ford Ka would end up with £20 less £48 seller commisson.

Not sure what the Buyer Indemnity is all about and whether it is compulsory presumably the buyer pays this so the KA costs the Buyer £20 plus £42 buyer indemnity.

If I remember right, Buyer Indemnity is a system that (should a buyer take it up) means that they get the car minus any debts incurred on it. If, for example, the vehicle was under hire purchase and had been sold (without the HP company doing this) and a person bought it without the B.I. then they have also bought the remainder of the HP!

The auction here doesn't charge an entry fee, the seller just pays commission on the sale price. The buyer pays a £35 + vat imdemnity fee which is compulsory. So the 20 quid ka actually cost 62 quid. Too expensive lol

My first Vauxhall PA Cresta was pink, or 'Mountain Rose' as it was called, all the rage then as a few years previously most cars were black or beige.

Until you get hit in it when it crumbles into a pile of red dust with a red wet patch in the (now loose) seat.

So while we're on prices what do your think a Citroen C6 07 plate 2.7 diesel in decent running order with MOT until next March but cat C write off, very little apparent damage might be worth. 102K miles and timing belt recently done.

I'm looking at one offered at three grand and open to offers, trouble is that the seller is vague about what damage was done. only mentioning the minor stuff so I'm wondering if there has been a hidden bodge job done.

It is tempting, although the £500 road tax would be a pain.
