Tyres (again!)

Just looking to see if anyone's running on, or got any opinions on PRESTIVO tyres?

Apparently they are owned by Yokohama (?), again not what i'd normally be buying.

Just curious.

Never heard of those in particular, but there are some cracking names they've invented for tyres!

One car I had was shod with 'Fate' tyres

As long as they're round and black. I don't drive fast enough for performance to become an issue.

No, maybe not but the tyres lasted well and seemed to perform OK... I think I ended up replacing them because they developed signs of perishing through old age, the normal fate of tyres on my cars...

Same here Dave, plus I don't drive far... As said, I normally have to replace because they're time-expired perished...

They seem to be of Argentinian origin those Fate tyres by all accounts.

Talking of tyres, I need a set of rears very soon. I have Michelin Cross Climates on the front and they are the quietest tyres I have ever had, coming in at about 69db - summer tyres with winter certification, a 'B' for fuel rating and an 'A' for wet braking. I think I might get the fronts moved to the rear and a new set of these on the fronts.

It's good to know they're quiet. Some tyres are so noisy now they practically deafen me when cars wearing them pass me on my bike..

Yes noise and fuel efficiency are important for me. Did you know 70db is twice as loud as 69db? When they turned the radio up at work I used to sabotage the speakers!

I've just done exactly this on the C5 - the cross climates seem to wear well too (the C5 eats front tyres....) just having them on the front totally transformed winter driving last year in terms of grip on snow so I'm looking forward to see how having them on all four corners works!

I wasn't too sure about the CrossClimates when they first came out, as I've never bothered with Premium tyres over the last few years - complete waste of time on the C5 and yes 100% agree they eat tyres for breakfast on the C5 - on every incarnation of this model too. But now I'm not doing the mileage, I put them on last year and am amazed that I still have any tread on them

. So I think that is the plan - now just got to find the best place to get them delivered from and then I'll get them fitted. I think Oponeo have the best price at £129 each delivered as of posting, Camskill about the same, but there's a new company I haven't seen before - pneus-online - I think they are Swiss:

Glad you are liking them too, I'll last my current rear 'mid-ranges' out a little longer and then re-check prices before ordering the CrossClimates in case Santa is being kind!

well, 3 of them and a half worn Nankang!
not my personal choice but i picked up a set of alloys with 3 brand new tyres for £80, to be fair, i had a pair of Mazzini's on the front that i picked up from the chap around the corner who had a relatively decent stock of minimal use tyres on vw rims, at £15 a pop i didnt complain, they gripped Remarkably well on the wagon, Really gave confidence in flinging the car around the twisties of the coast raod at speeds it really Shouldn't be doing!!

i do love the names of some of the tyres, LiveLongs, Triang, ling long, road safe,
