Does anybody know where there might be a breeding pair?
Chris570's and mine - almost identical....
Unfortunately Jim, that is not a breeding pair, as there is nowhere for the Xantia foetus to develop until it is born. You need one of yours and an Activa one of these for a breeding pair;

Also, our two Activas may be genetically a bit too similar as well... The offspring could be a bit challenged - it would be awful if the result was a Vauxhall Corsa or a Nissan Micra as a result of inbreeding!!!
If you could get your Activa to breed with one of these the DNA might throw up an interesting mix (should not have the inbreeding issue), and there is enough room for twins (or, with luck, triplets!);

The last picture is of spares that came off the donor engine. I will sort these out and probably post on here in the new year. Not sure what car the engine came out of but we had to change everything off it as everything was different. Correct engine code but everything was smaller.

Excellent No special way to bleed as far as I remember but do be aware that if an auxiliary heater is fitted, either the glowplug variety or the Erberspacher, they must be confirmed full of coolant before first start by bleeding the heater matrix circuit...
The glowplug type in particular can suffer irreversible damage if run dry.

If a glowplug one then you'll see a little alloy box in one of the heater matrix pipes on the bulkhead with four glowplugs screwed into it with heavy wires going off to the main engine fusebox.
The Erberspacher is a diesel-fired heater that lives under the front nearside wing...
Well went to start up the hdi ready to pressurise the hydraulic system. No movement at all. Put foot on clutch no pedal, lifted it up with foot then down it flopped again. Eventually stiffened up, too stiff. Had noticed a small leak on the bottom front sphere lower pipe. Thought nothing of it. Mate thought he was slowly getting a bitting point but no gear selection available. Then something went pop. Looked at front of car and saw all my hydraulic fluid on the floor. That wasn't the worst of it we then noticed that the clutch slave cylinder had gone to pieces.
Question Time:
1. Does the pipe that goes up into the front lower sphere i believe the anti sink sphere have a rubber grommet or washer on it.
2. What did i do wrong all the system seemed full of fluid primed pump and everything. Was it this leaking pipe that caught me out.
Please any advice/ criticism is welcome just so want and now need to get this project finished now.
New slave cylinder ordered should be here this week hopefully.

Q1. That sounds like the front Centre Hydractive Sphere... Yes, it should have a normal sphere seal on it... Are you sure it's not the power steering pipe that's let go? It's in the same area...
Q2. The clutch slave cylinder will self-destruct if it is not correctly installed. It is so easy when installing the slave to get the pushrod to the side of the clutch release fork rather than seated in the cup... I've done it...
If it happens the slave can be reassembled... You may be lucky and not have to bleed the system. However - if you need to then my blog describing my renewal of Davie's clutch on his Activa describes it.
It is the metal pipe going into the sphere assembly if that makes sense. It was a small leak then a gush. When we took it out of the sphere assembly my mate reckons it should have a rubber grommet or washer type thing on it. Does this sound right.
