As a completely off subject, I've just realised you have the same make and model of bike I have.

Just looked at the pin outs and they are truly different to what I have Jim, The main problem I think is that I have no pin at A2 and that's the switched 12 v. That might be the main reason it doesn't even link up. Looking at the pin out list Apart from A1,2,3 the only pins I'd need would be E1 and E2, ABS and suspension and maybe H3 deadlocks?

The pins at E1 and E2 however, are going to the wrong pins! I don't think it's possible to splice the cable because the pin at A2 is missing anyway. I think I need a loan of someone's correct 30 pin adapter...

Graeme, I've now looked through all my diagrams and the earliest Diagnostic Socket I can find in for the 1995 Model year and essentially it's not much different... I have posted it up for interest and now I'm really confused.... I can't imagine they changed it radically between the early sinkers and a later model but you never know...

Image

I cannot find any reference to Evolutions (changes) on this topic either...

I am really sorry I have no other diagrams I can look at now... I've exhausted my entire library...

You may now need to do it by dead reckoning an trace the diagnostic lines back from each ECU to the socket... A pain but doable...

I can supply the necessary diagrams for the other ends but again they will not be the very early ones... 1995 on...

Let me know...

Thanks folks, yes I think it's an oddity of the earlies :D

I think the only possibility is the connecter Simon has because he had it working for a Mk1?

Anyway, I noticed the reversing lights were not working and wondered about it. On looking up which fuse it seems to be shared with cooling fan and.... diagnostic socket.. Ha, so when I was checking the pins in the socket I did accidently briefly short out the 12v with the earth! Thought I did. I must have driven a couple of days with no cooling fans. Thankfully it's freezing here.

Fuse was blown of course and now have reverse lights again.

The pedal sensor was working intermittently this evening - it always seems to work after using the extra switch I fitted though only when the car is already in motion. I think this is because when you switch the ECU power back on it does its tests of all the sensors and maybe sends a strong signal to the pedal sensor and back. Why this drops is unknown. This evening it actually came back on its own for a while and even worked from standing starts though soon dropped once more. Intermittent behavior like that always strikes me as bad connection as I always feel ECUs either work or they don't But could be wrong if there's a dry solder in the ECU that is now working kind of 5% of the time..

Update! Sometimes the simple solutions are best.I sourced a replacement H4 ecu that arrived today. Plugged it in and it now works with the pedal sensor. Also the hydractive dashboard lamp lights then goes out like am abs light and that's reassuring. Not done am extended drive anywhere but hope it's the solution.
Still want to get the Lexis working though..

What is Sherlock says, "when you've eliminated all other possibilities, the one that's left must be the answer, however, unlikely it seems"!

Good work. You have have my 30 pin connector to chop up - it's NBG as it as anyway!

Hehe I'm used to it! Anyway the heated mirrors work because they worked this morning when itwas minus 3.. It answered the question of: I wonder if this Car has heated mirrors. And if so do they work :)

Anyway despite my efforts I still seem to be getting air appearing in the LHM at the brake return circuit and that's strange
