Xantia headlamp fittings

Unread post by superloopy »

Following a recent head to head with a youngster in a Corsa I needed to swap out my OSF headlamp on Xantia TD with the same from a donor car, this was my activa, good job she was there all ready to give up some parts :)
Ran into a snag when the headlamp retaining bolts on TD wouldnt give up, deciding to come away with the internal body fixings et al. So, now with no suitable mounting bolts or fixings for the donor lamp i looked on service.citroen to source replacements but there doesn't seem to be any breakout of the actual headlamp fixings, b **ger! Has anyone any better diagrams showing the part numbers for the three headlamp bolts and their rear fixings? Anything on SEDRE anyone?

I am not sure what you want, there are 3 short bolts for the fixings, these go into captive nuts. (is that what has gone ?)
I can take some photos later if you want as I have the lamp out of my spare V6.Activa at the moment.....

Yeah ... the captive nuts and bolts just pulled through the panel ... i need to renew them but cant find part numbers on service.citroen under the headlamp description or anywhere else.

I don't think they'll be available Mike... You're best off making up substitute arrangements...

Maybe making new nuts captive by sticking them in with fibreglass resin but before doing that make sure the fibreglass resin you chose will bond firmly to the underlying material.. It may be ABS and that can be a bit of a %&%^^^( to bond to...

As far as I know Mike, they do...

I have a spare slam panel growing in the garden, I can see later...

Just got back !....sorry delayed in Bristol :(.....photos in the morning, sorry.

I did glance them this morning, they are behind the slam panel and held with a cage/lug over a nut....

I did find this, it is a S2 car so maybe the shape changed but I don't think the method has....

Those cage lugs (?) are knackered on mine. The bolts turned easily enough but the fittings came through the panel so i reckon i'm needing a new one if i cant get replacements. Difficult to get at without taking the front of the car off.

It's a LOT easier to repair what you have Mike rather than swap a whole slam panel.... If the headlamp captive nuts were bad then just image how bad the other captive nuts securing the slam panel might be...

You could find yourself in a whole world of pain...

Best to do as I suggested earlier with fibreglass...
