Hi forum
Another issue came up recently.
I tried to look for similar issues but everyone of them is different.
So...
I had full service done recently and after a week after I had ‘’Invalid Oil measurement’’ warning.
The first thing that I did was checking the oil level.
After removing dipstick and wipe it off to see the oil level, it broken inside the sump ( just the plastic part ).
I didn’t wanted to drive with any plastic rubbish in the sump so I brought my wee car to local garage and they found it on the bottom of the sump.
In the mean time I got myself a new dipstick from one of the dealers.
Now when everything is put back together I have ‘’ Check oil level ‘’ warning and Service light.
There are no error codes but oil level read by sensor is 225% ( hence the warning ).
The question is. Could this sensor be faulty or just dirty ? The garage didn’t gave my any plan of action as yet.
Or maybe its something that I can resolve myself.
Cheers !

Re: Oil warning + Service
What model is this?
My 2013 X7 displayed an Invalid Oil Level Measurement as well. This is a known fault and was cured (eventually) by shortening the dipstick tube.
See https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... =3&t=55464 for this and other faults I've had done.

It would help if you updated your profile or signature to list your current vehicle at the very least. It is difficult to expect members to respond without this basic information.

I suspect that your problem will be the same as mine. Unfortunately as your car is out of warranty you'll have to arrange for the shortening (sounds like a horror film) yourself.
I suspect that it won't be a difficult job but it would be handy to have access to the service bulletin which details the operation.

Re: Oil warning + Service
I've had a good trawl and can't see anything out in the ether. There's nothing special procedurally regarding replacing any of the oil sensors either. A lot of people who have had similar issues with their ends falling off (of their dipsticks)
have just left it until the next oil change and then fished it out of the sump.

Re: Oil warning + Service
When mine did this it was because the Dealer had overfilled with oil. Because they couldn't measure the oil level as the dipstick was broken (which they replaced at the same time)
I took it back and they let some out and all was fine.

Re: Oil warning + Service
I have new dipstick from dealer and oil level measured using ''manual'' method is fine.
I think the problem is with the sensor, as with the same dipstick everything was sweet for years + when reading level from sensor it gives 225%
Will bring it today to the garage and see
