I'm hoping to have bought a property in Golspie Brora or Helmsdale by then, let me know some dates and sure we could meet.

Golspie is the nearest town to where we go on holiday, I get regular updates of property for sale in that area - and calibrate our speedo's with the speed indicator as you go in. :)

I love the area around golspie and dornoch. We used to have a holiday caravan of our own at Grannies Heilan Hame for many years. It was approx 2 hours of a run up for us, and spent every 2nd weekend there whilst the site was open. 110 miles by road, but only about 40 miles in a straight line. With my sea faring background I was very close to getting a small fast boat to do the journey in!

Rogart is beautiful and I like the back roads up the 'hill' which take you to Brora.

Once the home is purchased my velo will be out and about on these roads. It will be fun climbing up from the main road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The place I work calls all it's products after Scottish lakes.
Oddly enough I rarely connect these names with real places except Lomond and Troon (my mother used to visit a 'medicine man' - Jan DeVries, in Troon.
Now you have given Brora real-life status.

Must visit to Scotland one day.

How about organising a FCF NC500 run in the spring or summer. Camping at a couple of places along the way. It could be a great few days.

I would think there would be plenty of places in the far north where we could stop and set up a camp for the night, totally wild camping with a camp fire and a bbq as long as we took all our rubbish home. It could be arrive in Inverness on Friday, stay in the municipal camp site Friday night, set off in the morning, go about 1/2 way round on Saturday, then back to inverness on Sunday. I would make one change to the published route, coming south from Dornoch I wouldn't come across the Dornoch firth to Tain, I would go the old A9 to Bonar Bridge then go across the Struie Hill, where you see one of the best views ever, at a bit called Millionaires View. I used to drive past it regularly while fishing from Kinlochbervie.

That's the millionaires view Jim. Beautiful on a nice sunny day, can get very dark and broody on a wild day.
