Does anybody know if the Activa has a pressure release valve on the fuel tank. As the fuel tank looks fine. Not able to look at the top just yet as can't afford to disturb hydraulic pipes just yet.

Not really but it does have a breather...

Why do you ask?

Was told that it could possibly be that, that is leaking the fuel out. Something to do with the pressures in the tank. Do you know where the breather pipe goes to. Because the fuel always comes out in front of the rear wheel.

The breather and filler pipe run up the wheel arch from the tank. I'd be tempted to take the wheel off and see where it comes from when running or pressurise the system maybe from the engine return line

Have you checked the seal on the top of the tank (where the pump fits) ?....

Rule of thumb, never fill more than the first pump shut off.

I think the filler pipe is either ruptured or loose. Take the wheel off and stick a Jerry cans worth in and see

Thought easier and cheaper to do full engine swop as can get an engine for less than £100. Just waiting to here back from a lad I know who probably fit it for me. 8-[

Well i am now the pride owner of a xantia EXCLUSIVE. This purchase intern allows me to take the blue Activa off road for the winter and start work on the few issues that have arisen this summer mainly all the spheres need to be replaced along with some hydraulic pipes i am sure you have all seen the pictures of said hydraulic pipe work nicely corroded. Also the fuel leek that turns out to be the coller on the filler pipe.
So hopefully that will all be addressed this winter and it will be back on the road in time for the summer i hope. And so should the silver Activa which will hopefully have it's hole in the rear wing all cut out and a new piece put in it's place.
Funds and time permitting i should have three cars on the road by this time next year. The exclusive will become the main run around and the two Activae will be put on classic car insurance. and with any look will be seen next year at one two rallye's.
I am just in the process of trying to get rhz engine for the exclusive so this can be on the road asap.

Excellent :D I'm doing similar with the recent acquisition of Gabriel, a 1.9TD Xantia...

The HDi Exclusive will be a lovely car when sorted :D

Is the HDi engine a write-off then? If yo why?

More mayonnaise than you can shake a stick at. Apparently cost of new head gasket is around £600 +. So engine exchange is the only way forward. My mechanic say's if i help him do the job it just £10 an hour for his time and he is confident that we can do it in a day, two top's.
