No brake lights Berlingo b9 59 plate

Unread post by Chri5 »

Coming home last night I was flagged to say I've no brake lights.
Checked and changed bulbs, checked fuses but still nothing.
I've also checked and changed brake switch but still in the dark.
could it be anything else?
Any advice would be great.

It may be worth the checking the earth - could be broken or corroded or just a bad contact. The C3s suffer a lot with this necessitating a bypass in some cases.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

This may not apply to the Berlingo (it does to a 206!) , but if you are stuck look under the passenger side footwell area and look up behind the glovebox.

There may be a switch here, this is only really likely to apply if your brake master cylinder / servo assembly are on the left hand side of the car and there's a "link rod" for the brakes across the bulkhead (either side) to said master cylinder.

Reason being : On the 206 the 'pedal' switch if fitted is mainly for the ECU where as the 'real' brake light switch is on the passenger (on a RHD car) side...

Its worth a moment to check this just in case it applies to this model. I somehow think not but as I say its worth 30 seconds to have a quick look.
Andy.

Still stuck. Auto electrician said it was the switch. So I've changed it and still no lights.
