egr removal

hi guys after a lot of trouble with the garage I bought my citroen xsara from they not interested in repairing my car and I aint got anymore fight left in me to take this matter further so a friend of mine has kindly offered to repair my car for me , what I would like is for someone to tell me how the best way to remove the egr valve with instructions if possible plz , we also have to renew the solenoid as they tries to jam it with ball bearing and then had the cheek to deny it can anyone seriously help us in getting this off many thanks jay

Is this an HDi ?
If so Plenty of pre cut blanking plates available on ebay. Fairly simple to fit.

On my Xantia HDI I have just disconnected the vac line to the EGR and plugged the "Car" side using a small bolt, no issues in 20,000 miles. I have purchased a blanking plate but access is awkward so I am waiting until I am working in the area.

Plugging the vac pipe is fine if you know the valve is fully closed or if you are disconnecting it as a preventative measure before it causes problems. if there is a fault with it then it could be stuck partially open & disconecting the vac pipe wont work.

Have plugged just like this (and disconnected the electrical vacuum pump) on XM 2.5, several years ago.
System previously working ok, with a fairly recent replacement EGR valve.
Bonus has been +2mpg*, and undoubtedly some cleaner engine parts.
Not universally approved of, of course.
*A loss of 2mpg was what Citroen tacitly acknowledged when their fuel consumption figures were revised with the introduction of EGR, apparently.

I would seriously urge you not to do this. It is illegal to drive a car on the public road that has been modified ion this way and it will turn your car into a mobile NOx factory!
