Yeah, just a bit sad really. It's always particularly bad when a country pub shuts down. I can think of probably a dozen folks I used to chat to every weekend who I've not seen once since the Lodge closed down, and that was in 2009.

Interesting looking beastie...though I do have to ask the question of "What is it?"

Looks both a great deal of fun and rather potent!

I strongly suspect that it's a serious enough bit of kit and light enough that if you get sideways in it you're already in pretty deep trouble! Doesn't look like a car that would take kindly to the driver taking liberties with it!

It would have to be a semi auto Ds properly sorted. A real one not one of these joke ones.

.....and in addition to the Rover......I mean I have only spent £8,000 so far...I would make it up to £20,000 in total and spend £12,000 on a visit to Madame H and come home with this

Don't think I realised the DS came with a semi auto box. Assuming from the era it was a "proper" semi auto rather than a manual with a deleted clutch pedal like most of the modern stuff...

Never driven one of those I liked - while in contrast the pneumocyclic semi-auto box found on many Leyland buses (including but not limited to the National and Atlantean) is one of my favourites in that application. Even if changing gear with the wrong hand did take a couple of miles to get properly used to.

Zel, the BVH fitted to the DS was basically a manual 'box with an automatic clutch and all gear selection worked by hydraulics..

Technically it's a pre-selector 'box rather than a semi-auto. From your bus driving experience you'll now exactly..

I've driven one and they're great :D

The gear selection lever is on the top of the steering cowl and the lever also incorporates the starter...
