Engine Diagnosis light on!

Hi, my S2 Xantia, while travelling to work this morning(40 miles) the car 'cut out' four times and the Engine Auto Diagnosis light came on and stayed on! If I leave it for a few minutes it starts with a little turning over, just like it's starved of fuel! it will run a few miles then 'cut out'. I changed the fuel filter around 500 miles ago. any help gratefully received, Terry.

You need a Lexia session Terry. Easiest way of determining what may be the problem and saves an awful lot of poke 'n' hope
