Needs rescuing. Ideal for the garden, along with the red telephone box, the bus stop...

I hadn't thought of that Chris, I'll have to have a word with my mate who already has the red phone box in his garden.

The petrol pump might be a problem to anyone who wants to move it, I wonder if it still sits above the tank and if the tank was ever properly decommissioned, quite a rigmarole with the health and safety boys.

You could place a bit of temporary fencing in front of it, and beaver away behind... 8-)
Wonder whose land it sits on, and is it on someone's list?

Could also be adapted to tell the time, with a little ingenuity.

Very nearly visited this on our expedition to the Welsh/English border country earlier in the year. Plans were afoot to revive it selling petrol in 2015 but whether anything came of it I don't know. Its in Turnastone Herefordshire, probably within a 30 mile radius of Gibbo!

A good guess Neil, 31.2 miles to be exact.

Not been there but worked in Hereford in the late fifties and more recently bought and sold cars at Leominster auctions

I like a bit of a challenge...eventually found it!

Came across an interesting tale of entrepreneurship and taking a risk along the way, linking with this little snippet from the SunGreen website-Old Photos, Memories, and Family History of the Forest Of Dean
Across the road again to Watt’s the Ironmongers shop with a petrol pump outside, you have to wind the handle to get the petrol to flow and young lads can earn their pocket money here, on Friday evenings when school was over and all day Saturday the pay was 2s/6d . (1929-30 Memories-Geoff Wildin)
Ironmongery and fuel supply in the early days of motoring went hand in hand, but Watts, exploited opportunities and took risks to expand into other areas. This is a litttle extract from the Watts story from here http://www.wattstvc.co.uk/about
Arthur Watts, who masterminded much of the growth of the Watts Group, was one of the country's great diesel pioneers. By 1912, the Company were agents for Triumph motorcycles and Ford vehicles. Watts first major involvement in commercial vehicles was in 1922 when Arthur borrowed £20,000 from the National Provincial after Lloyds Bank in Lydney turned him down. He used this money to purchase 200 chain driven Albions, that were surplus to requirement after the Great World War. These vehicles were located in Salonika, a Greek island. It must have been a major logistics exercise in those days to drive and tow these vehicles to the port of Piraeus, ship them to Newport docks and then bring them back to Lydney.
(maybe just a touch inaccurate to describe Salonika as an island though.....)
If this inflation calculator is vaguely accurate Mr Watts for his speculative venture would be trooping into his bank today asking for nearly £800,000!

I have contributed photos to the Sun Green site Neil, it's a very good place for local stuff of all sorts and the man who runs it is just down the road from me.
The Watts family were and still are local benefactors, Melville Watts was until his recent death a great stalwart of the Friends of Lydney Hospital.

They still have factories in the locality although they sold their motor trade site and it is now the Lydney Tesco supermarket.

That corner with the petrol pump is only a hundred yards from my front door. :)

Saw one of these the other day, and had a page through the RM's catlogue of special issues from 1950 to date to see if any other "albums" had made it onto stamps.

The Pink Floyd issue was a theme in itself so a few of Pink Floyds other albums made it, but they join very exclusive company with the only other artists to have a stamp issue of several of their albums was....you may have guessed it....the Beatles.

There was an issue of classic albums stamps in 2010, which also included the division bell by Pink Floyd alongside some other interesting covers. RM were probably a bit too conservative to include "Never mind the bollocks" but the Clash did make it with London's Calling, and Blur with this interesting image from "Park Life"

Must admit I find the artwork and design of the humble postage stamp over the years to be a fascinating snapshot of the times, as well as being interesting works of art in themselves.
