I've watched Quentin Willson from back when he ran Top Gear, but I think this is the best model he ever dealt with. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h ... 2xltdG338=

Always nice to see Jodie Kidd, impressive woman, but I don't think that was your intention.

Re: On TV...
You want to see drift???
It seems that I am going to be interviewed in local TV tonight... I presume that they will translate me as I was talking to a French reporter in English.
I was also filmed walking out of our apartment building, carrying 2 empty buckets, carrying the across the road, filling them in the stream and carrying them back home!
It is to be fair, a daily ritual for me for the last 3 weeks since a neighbour cut off our water supply.
We were also on the front page of the local paper today: http://www.bienpublic.com/edition-cote- ... la-riviere
The good news is that the publicity has caused the Mayor (who previously said he could not intervene in a private dispute) to apply pressure to the water company who will now dig up the road and give us a new connection in 1 day, rather than the 4 weeks which was (yesterday) the absolute soonest it could be done.

Mike, your 15 minutes of fame
Immensely delighted the problem is now being resolved Just shows the benefits of a bit of publicity...
It's not actually that far off-topic as you're talking about a TV appearance...

Re: On TV...
No sign of the XM in the clip.... If they had filmed a couple of hours earlier, my Xantia would have been parked in shot.

We are looking forward to the entertainment tomorrow. Unfortunately getting a new supply to the building won't immediately get water to our apartments, as the existing plumbing is more obscure than a hydractive Citroen, and we cant get a plumber to connect everything up until next week, and we still have the problem that we can't find where the feed from the neighbour's property is connected in, and we don't trust him not to start drawing off our water.

Re: On TV...
Well, we now have water supply to the building (as the mayor promised), but it not yet connected to the building plumbing. I will spend today tracing the route of the plumbing by chipping it out of a solid concrete floor...
The local paper did at least get my XM in shot this time... http://www.bienpublic.com/edition-cote- ... ives-d-eau
The problem with the plumbing in this building is that the (200 year old) building was refurbished and re-plumbed 25 years ago (by the guy who has now shut off the water), and the plumbing was done by labourers from eastern europe who ran pipes seemingly at random between the apartments, sometimes in the walls and ceilings and sometimes under concrete floors. Somewhere in the network there is a junction that connects us to the building next door.

Just make sure that JCB arm is kept away from the car
Sounds a bit like domestic electrics here, Mike, where cables are threaded through flexy conduit, which can be taken from one side of a room to the other by strewing them - spaghetti-style - on the floor. The floor is finally flooded with concrete!
And cable-detectors don't work too well through solid/reinforced concrete. Great fun.

Re: On TV...
I used to watch in horrified fascination new houses being built in Cyprus and they employed the same techniques...white exec wrote: Sounds a bit like domestic electrics here, Mike, where cables are threaded through flexy conduit, which can be taken from one side of a room to the other by strewing them - spaghetti-style - on the floor. Any later problems were absolute nightmares...
Hope your work today on the plumbing is fruitful Mike
