Hi Nick, welcome to the forum

It isn't an injector pump as such, its just a high pressure continuous flow pump to keep the rail pressure at the required level. I have never know one fail although I suppose they must but there is a pressure regulator which can.

Its very difficult and can be dangerous to fault find a common rail engine by 'conventional' means as the pressure is about 10 time that of an IDI engine, you need to find someone in your area with a Lexia, there is a list of people on the forum, the Lexia can read the pressure when cranking directly.

Do you have a lift pump in the tank? if so that could be the problem.

i agree its a continuous flow pump but nothing is coming out of the high pressure line when cranking ,i'v checked the stop solenoid and that appears to be working fine ,there is no low pressure lift pump on this vehicle ,the only thing i haven't checked is there is a rubber drive key that couples the pump to the cam maybe that has failed ?

Is this an 8 or 16 valve engine?
