Anyone play this card came in their formative years?

I always remember the artwork, and the one for "Out of Gasoline" seems evocative of a sweltering day when the last thing you need is to be stranded and out of gasoline by the roadside.

As I have learned today it was called "Touring" an American game first patented in the very early days of motoring in 1906, and it wouldn't surprise me if the pack we played with as children was nearly as old as that!. Much later in the 1950's a French Game "Milles Bornes" (a thousand milestones) was very similar but much more modern looking and colourful. I love the artwork of the original "Touring" cards though, and remember them fondly to this day.

No former players of "Touring" or "Milles Bornes" have dared to come out yet, so how about another car-related amusement...

I remember this too.... but there's no way I am as ancient as that box!

Fascinating car number plates....................spotted this today driving on the roads of the United Kingdom, County of Northumberland to be precise.

It was on a Toyota Picnic (the car not a works outing)

Registration number 134 D 590

Definitely an unusual spot, and a bona fide registration.

The 134 translates into Chile

The 590 indicates (as it is between 400 and 699) that the vehicle relates to non-diplomatic staff of international organisations. Had it been 101-399 it wold have been a diplomat, and 700-999 for consular staff.

So what on earth were Chilean, non-diplomatic staff of international organisations doing driving through Northumberland in a Toyota Picnic?.....

Following my brief encounter with an original Messerschmitt KR200, I have had a little delve into the internet, to find out a bit more.

There are a few Messerchmitts "on the market" at the moment, all with hefty price tags, with the expectation of sale values in excess of £30,000 for something like this

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/uploads/ ... 771293.jpg

Cheapest one I found-one in Ayrshire up for sale at £14,500

http://assets.bauer-wolke.co.uk/imagege ... 631/00.jpg

If you don't fancy polluting the atmosphere with two-stroke fumes there is always a leading edge technology, version known as the Veloschmitt KR e-250, with a 250 watt pedelec powertrain. Bit cheaper at between 5,250 and 6,500 euros

http://img-2.gizmag.com/veloschmitt-12. ... 60782f0ee6

Seems like they have moved on with the concept of the Messerschmitt e-bike, and moved up in price too to a basic 8,000 to 10,000 euros with extras. If this is anything to go by much better looking than the Veloschmitt, and carrying with it the Messerschmitt name, and upping performance.

Well congratulations are in order. The person who just viewed this particular thread was the 10,000th viewer!

However, like the Mary Celeste the mystery of who claimed that honour will never be revealed.

Hope you enjoyed the cartoon, theres plenty more amusing ones from Rob Murray a regular contributor to Private Eye and many other publications. I like his "drone Falconer".

There's not so much kudos in being the 370th replier, but I think FCF Chat needs a bit of new input, so post away!

Images are easy to put into posts. Just right click on an image select copy image location, and paste into a post surrounding it with . easy!

......following on from the straight to the point message "Eat more herrings" appearing on the "What do you know about Norfolk? thread. Here's an image featuring the famous "Shop at Binns" command which featured on North-East buses.

That Leyland car offering would look half-decent if it weren't for the ludicrous rectangular chrome thingy between the headlights.

Something like this, maybe...

Hmmm not sure I have ever been to Hartlepool.

Or actually I have, about twenty years ago, testing some gear for radio noise using the nukular power station as a source.
Didn't see any of the town though, just a chippy.
