Amazed - didn't think they had a dress code in Oz, where they wear shorts in Court (or did, pre-a/c).

Of course, in London now, even wearing matching socks is viewed as indicating you have too much time on your hands (feet?)

I thought pinstripes were tailored for braces & the waistband went up to twin peaks at the back, presumably so the buttons (for the braces) were above waist level - though why, I've no idea.

The morning suits that the Ascot Authority hired to not have any points for braces, so I will have to get a pair of clip on braces. I got some for my cousin Bob several years ago, with Taz the Tasmaninian Devil printed along them. Very fetching.

I wish it to be known that the opinions in THIS particular post are the opinions of myself, and do not (to the best of my knowledge) represent the opinions of anybody else, including (but not limited to) the French Car Forum (and/or any person or organisation linked to the French Car Forum) and the Ascot Race Course (and/or any person or organisation linked to the Ascot Race Course).

All of the photographs in this post are my own work, and were taken using either a Fujifilm FinePix S2980 camera or a Puissant Zoom 12X Digital Camera Binoculars device (mainly to see how good the camera built into the binoculars; I think it is very good). I took these photographs before the course opened (but during the Royal Ascot meeting), to show how Royal Ascot is when you can see it clearly, and without any of the clientele (although the EPoS team picture was taken at the end of a race day).

There are photographs of three horse bronzes within this post. The bronze sculpture of 'Frankel' is why I felt I had to post the opinion disclaimer. Art is supposed to provoke an emotional response. For THIS sculpture my response is utter contempt for the incompetent 'sculptor' who produced this travesty. If I were in the position of accepting or rejecting work for the Ascot Race Course I would tell the person who produced this 'sculpture' to take it back and do it right.

I am of the opinion that a sculpture should ACCURATELY represent the subject matter. 'Frankel' was a superb example of an astounding equine athlete. He won all of the races he was entered for (fourteen in total), and is now siring race winners. A proper sculpture should pay respect to the subject matter, and show it in the best light. This pile of scrap metal does not do this.

If a God were to breathe life into the three bronze sculptures, the one of 'Yeats' would continue trotting, the one of 'Motivator' would carry on hurtling along at a gallop, and the one of 'Frankel' would scream in agony, collapse and die.

If anybody wants to post comments on this thread please feel free to do so. Because of my strong opinion on the 'Frankel' bronze I felt it necessary to post the disclaimer to protect the French Car Forum and the Ascot Race Course. I did NOT post it to put anybody off.

You may have noticed that I have been a bit quiet recently. This is because I have (for the twelfth year) been looking after the EPoS equipment at Royal Ascot. I didn't take many photographs, as I was slightly busy, but I did get a few.

The EPoS Support Team, from left to right, are as follows;
Mark, Sam, Tom, Connor, Greg (otherwise known as Main Greg), Pius, Casey, Greg (this Greg is known as Bitesize!), Anish, Myself (also known as Jetpack).
