I've just changed the o/s engine mounting and on it was what I take to be a manufacturing date of 19/04/1995. My car was first registered on 12/11/1995, so just wondered if the actual build date could be worked out.

Citroen ZX 1.9D Elation - build date..?
Out of idle curiosity, is the actual date of manufacture encoded in the various numbers on the data plate?

Yes, you can get the build date. Somewhere on the car will be the RP number - on a ZX of this age probably stencilled on the OS bulkhead somewhere. This can be converted to the build day using any one of a number of online date converters (google Citroen ORGA calc). Alternatively, post up the VIN, and I'll look it up in service.citroen....

Many thanks for your reply. I've had a good look around the car and of course there doesn't seem to be any sign of the ORGA number.
I had a look at the website you mentioned and there's nothing obvious for the factory where it was built either. Ho hum.
All I have is a small plate welded to the stiffener bracket for the o/s suspension turret with 3 lines of letters and numbers stamped on it:
NS 06
03556 4
5 111 0538
There are also the letters KJLBR stencilled to the n/s suspension turret which I suspect are the paint/trim codes?
VIN PLATE:
PMAC 0121004V
VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Thanks,
Phil

Your car's RPO Code is 06741.
Citroen Service say the warranty start date as 01/01/1990 - but I'm not sure about this - it looks like this may be a generic starting date for a vehicle this old as using the ORGA Calculator the production date comes up as 24/04/1995.

Marc: Thanks very much for working out the build date. I think I'll now have to name my ZX 'The Queen' 'cos it now has an actual birthday and an official birthday...

Not sure how accurate this is, but I have a Peugeot DAM number calculator, and putting your DAM in there throws up Monday 24th April 1995 - which might confirm GiveMeABreak's ORGA calculation.
