More PSA engines in unusual places
Some may recall the topic I posted a few months back, a non UK spec MK2 Micra (around 1998 model year I think) that the factory fitted with a TUD5 unit for LHD markets (it would not fit in RHD due to the manifold contacting the servo btw)
Anyway while browsing today for something else I came across this Corolla (this shape is 98 to 02 or thereabouts) take a look about fifteen seconds into the video at the engine, you may want to mute the annoying 'sound' though:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Unfortunately it was not the best choice of PSA engine in my opinion.

Re: More PSA engines in unusual places
I had an idea that the Corolla of that vintage had a PSA engine Andy,

As far as I'm aware, Toyota have always made their own diesel engines.

Jim, yes that's a DW8
Mike, I'm not sure it was available in the UK market but its definitely a DW8, from what I can gather it was only used for a couple of years.

Thanks Andy for that.
They were available in the UK as I've seen one... Owner didn't even know she had a diesel....spider wrote: Mike, I'm not sure it was available in the UK market but its definitely a DW8, from what I can gather it was only used for a couple of years.

Re: More PSA engines in unusual places
Looks like the complete front end (well inner wings etc) and the radiator mounted behind the engine. Note on the right hand side the dip dip or rad fan resistor (the silver 'pencil') just floating about along with a collection of cable ties.
I'm not terribly keen on the 'K+N' type filters on each inlet port on the manifold nor the open oil breather / separator you can see just in front of those, apparently floating mid-air hmm.
I'm not digging it, I can see the fun and attraction of this however this example needs some TLC and a tidy. Its almost like its in a 'beta' stage where it was just coming together 'temporarily to see what it is like'

Re: More PSA engines in unusual places
Used to know someone who had a VW trike, used to take it to local Reliant dealer for MoT's, simply because they (alone) had a suitable ramp, but they had no idea what to make of it or do with it so they'd walk round it , kick the tyres - & write out the pass (aaaah, those were the days!).

Re: More PSA engines in unusual places
I just think its interesting to see them where you would not normally expect to find them, either in some kind of 'home made' creation or in other marques (either factory fitted or owner 'adjustment'!)

Re: More PSA engines in unusual places
I recall seeing a TV programme where somebody had built a Trike around a Jaguar V12 engine (and it was a lovely job), using the gearbox and rear axle as well. It could hit 100MPH in 2nd gear. Apparently a Jaguar dealership got to display it for a while, alongside an XJ220. Guess which got more attention!
There is a video of it, but be warned; it features a young Chris Evans!;
