I have seen a couple of tempting looking saloons coming up, it seems easier to find one with a very nice spec, certainly more common to find full leather in a saloon. It's tempting to go for one and perhaps continue looking for the perfect estate over time, a saloon would manage 99% of what I want, and I still have my Discovery and a small trailer for the rest...

In that CV08 reg one, is that the lower spec satnav fitted? Or high spec nav with lower spec stereo? From looking at a few online, the high spec stereo seems to have one main control knob in the middle, not 2 at either end?

But yes, I seem to like oddball suspension systems, I'm very familiar with the hydrolastic in my Austin 1100 (the early type developed by Alec Moulton), which I've had for 9 years, since I was 16. Less familiar with the later hydragas, but there's still time to learn!

That one in the picture has the lower spec system, lower res screen. 2d Nav. The one with the single large dial is called the NG4 Navidrive 3D system, and isn't a lower spec stereo, it is an excellent system, available with or without a JBL upgrade of an additional amp and uprated speakers.

The model in the pic doesn't have a Bi-directional Xenons, or the front parking assistance.

I would be very happy if it was JBL actually ... :D ... as for the top, I did my fair share of work, I think its time for some new faces to be more knowledgeable than me ... :D

That clears up how to identify the stereos then! Was there a separate speaker upgrade or were all Navidrive systems created equal?

That 2.7 looks like a nice car for the money, stickyfinger, and pleasantly surprising that the tax isn't int he £500 region as I thought it would be! I'd rather gain in spec and toys than power and potentially engine smoothness, in this instance. If it had full leather and navidrive I'd be interested, mind.

Oh, an optimist, are you? ... :D ... there are 2 radios available (visually the same, one has the phone bluetooth capability, the other doesn't) ... there are also 6 different navigation units available, they can be identified more easily visually ... the Hi-Fi pack can be on any of the combinations, and is not related to the head units (meaning, you can have any of the head units but have/not have the Hi-Fi pack) ... and that's all just the genuine PSA equipment ... non-PSA equipment, there are extra radio/nav possibilities (check aliexpress, you'll see what I'm talking about)

Here are images of the various systems fitted up to 2012.

He's the seller who had the 2 good looking black exclusive tourers which sold quickly. He had told me he had a silver one of the same spec coming up so he sent me photos before listing it. When I told him it wasn't an exclusive so no use to me he seemed to think having a couple of options ticked was the same thing.

As I said before, a real 'salesman', as nice as some of his stock seems I'd rathe buy off an enthusiast.

How can I spot the upgraded hi if system then? I'm sure I've seen pics of little plaques on the speakers?

Quite difficult unless you can get the VIN - as not many dealers can get the actual specification correct half the time - "air suspension" for one! The upgraded unit will have an Amp (which you can't see) and uprated speakers - but I haven't seen any pictures of the grilles as yet.

What do you mean upgraded? I've actually upgraded mine to Hi-Fi, no chance you'll spot the difference ... if you mean genuine Hi-Fi, then the door speakers will look like this:

And the rear doors will actually have 2 speakers, the tweeters will be behind the door handle, easily visible as a 2nd speaker plastic mesh will be located there

Thanks for that. I realise I'm being very picky with what I want, but the car I want to replace is basically perfect, but it needs to go, so I need something worthy of replacing it, and one I really enjoy putting the miles onto.
