Xsara Picasso Exclusive

Unread post by Ttwlr »

Bought myself the Exclusive model 2005 2.0 HDI
Anyone on here have one? I'm after some info, does it have auto wipers when it rains, it looks like it does but didn't do nothing when it did rain, so not sure, also any other tips or tricks they have, I like the door mirror close in feature, wish it done that auto when turn engine off.
I looked online for specs on the 2005 Exclusive, but didn't fine nothing.
I know it's old but I really like these cars, doubles as a small van too with seats out.

Looking forward to hearing from you

If you post the VIN, someone will probably download the spec sheet for your car.

I've had a look for you and no - it does not have Rain Sensing Wipers. The sensor you are looking at on the windscreen is for the Automatic Lighting - which you do have.
Your fold-back mirrors can be set to fold back on locking the car - not sure if you this is what you want to happen?
You also don't have a Diesel Particulate Filter fitted on this model either, so less expense there!
Anyway, if you want the full specs of your vehicle, send me a Private Message (click my avatar and choose send private message) with an email address (don't post it here) and I'll send you the full printout as it's not practical to post here. :?

We've had a 2004 Piccy excl. 2.0 Hdi for 4 years and wouldn't be without it. Done the return journey from here to Brum (1500miles) 7 or 8 times, absolutely no problems (I know I'm asking for trouble now). Mileage is only 76000, so should be good for quite a lot more. It's a real load-carrier with the rear seats out (our children are in UK) and we can bring back things from the UK that are unobtainable / too expensive in France.

Other than oil / water / tyres and a new cambelt (10 years, not mileage) the only things I've had to do are (i) replace exhaust hangers and (ii) a track rod end (other one needs doing now).

I tried the button in the centre (0) position and didn't work, or I'm doing it Wrong:-(.
Only way I get them in is turning it to 6 o'clock position, really would like them to operate on lock and open, but guessing mine don't.
Sounds like you got a good one there doing all them miles, I have the sx petrol before this one, but I really like the exclusive model, only niggle is the colour of the dash, milky coffee colour that reflects onto the screen.

I have been very pleased with our 2.0Hdi Picasso, although through no fault of its own, other than having a very low air intake which sucks up water out of floods....!!!, its now laid up awaiting my revival as a competant DIY mechanic, who has taken engines out before, but is a bit reluctant to roll the sleeves up and just get on with it.

Its documented on the forum in a few threads

Three good things about my new car

and on a less positive note with a recommendation from me not to drive into floodwater of any depth, never mind that which pours into the footwell when you open your door!.

Floodwater 1 Xsara Picasso (2.0Hdi) 1

And currently on a negative note. Even without driving through floodwater, think very carefully if you think renewing the glow plugs is a good idea. If one happens to shear off (2 of mine did) disaster awaits, and to examine/remove the head to remove the tip, its pretty much an engine out-job due to the restricted access. There are some fabled individuals with bits of kit who can remove the tip in situ, but I haven't found one yet.

Glowplugs annihilate 2.0HDi Xsara Picasso

I also had to get a windscreen replaced as a result of the flood incident....it was blowing a gale the night I had to abandon it in a lay by, and part of a tree smashed the windscreen. I was relieved that the windscreen didn't have rain sensors as that would have doubled the price of a replacement.

I would have another Picasso again straight away, but for now I intend to slowly ressurrect mine.

Just checked out your manual and although they can be manually folded - they don't have an auto deployment / folding function on locking / unlocking - only by manually turning to 6 0' clock.

....Neil here......the one with "the Picasso from the flood", don't think Marc has been in a flood recently but can't be sure...

Yes, as part of my slow process of investigation/repair I removed the Rocker Cover. Quite straightforward if the shallow-recess in the bolt head, for the torx socket didn't turn very easily into a round hole, particularly for those bolts "round the back". Assume that the bolt heads and socket recesses are made out of chocolate, and make sure that your torx bit is precisely the right size and a tight fit, and keep the tools applying the force in a straight line...
