And, if they were strong and had good roller skates, the bumpers were good (but slender) seats.

We had a couple of Reliant Regals when I was growing up - 3 kids on the back seat and mum and dad in the front. And we used to go on proper holidays in them down to the West Country. Those were the days :roll:

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Sounds like its a no go, especially if the switch was only ever fitted in the Series 2, in the location where the Hydractive switch is on a Series 1... it was more of a thought experiment really but in hindsight I realise that fiddling around with the wiring for the airbag isn't the cleverest thing in the world!
