[C5 Mk3]Fuel pressure faults and clogged DPF

Hi guys,
I’ve had some issues with my C5 recently (2.0 HDI - 2008 Exclusive)
Last week when I started it up I got engine management fault code after few hundred meters. The car was driving OK so I decided to continue the journey. I scanned it with my smart phone app (no comments please ) and I got P0087 code. After several start ups engine management fault disappeared from the dash.
Everything was OK until Tuesday when I started it up on the morning and got handbrake faulty message and engine management fault on the dash but what scared me the most was a really weird/loud sound coming from the engine. Revs started moving up and down so switched it of waited few seconds and started it again. No message about the handbrake this time and engine was running smoothly and as usual. I got an EMU fault message however. I tested the handbrake and it was OK. After a few miles engine became very loud (laud like an old tractor literally!), revs jumping up and down, jerking/stalling and a horrible smoke from the exhaust! I turned around back home and took my Mrs car. I scanned it again after work and got the following codes: P1164, P0087 and U3FFF. Yesterday I managed to start it up and took it to local garage just few hundred meters from my house. They checked it today and the only code they could find was about DPF filter clogged (I changed it 4 months ago!). They run forced regeneration, took it to a test drive and after a mile or so the issue came back (loud engine, smoke, etc). They said is because the filter is blocked so the engine is suffocating thus smoke and noise. So I paid £65, thanked them and left with the car back home (started without any issues and managed to get back home without any problems, no smoke or noise from the engine). I’ve just scanned it again and got P1447 code only. End of story.

Bit confused know cos I thought that P0087 and P1164 are related to fuel injection system. Any chance to get them due to clogged DPF?
I’d appreciate any feedback.
NB. They didn’t scan it with Lexia and I don’t have access to it, sorry.

However, some members have also managed to clean the DPF by taking it off and running a cleaner through it (not sure which), and sorted that problem out.

Are you saying it's not possible through any other tool?

From what I understand yes....

Maybe one of the VERY VERY expensive ones....which it is unlikely that a small "local" garage has.

Regarding fault P1164; rail pressure sensor, where on the engine is this located?
Can't find it on the diagram.

have you had it on a Lexia yet and read the live data ?

Mine old Mk2 showed that fault and it was the HP fuel pump.....

No, don't have access to Lexia. Just wanted to locate this sensor first to have a look.
I'm gonna leave it with Citroen dealer for check cos I've had it in two other places and both failed to help saying DPF is clogged (one of them are "Diesel Specialists" in Loughborough). Both said P0087 or P1164 wouldn't cause the issues I described (ie. Stalling/Jerking, noisy engine, smoke from exhaust, etc.)
Guys in Loughborough excluded any issues with injectors or fuel pump.

Message members local to you direct.....you will have to ask, give it a try.

IF you have to go to a dealer make sure you ask for all the print outs if they cannot do anything/you don't want them to do the work/distrust result/cost to much via them.

Not saying it is not the Pressure_Reg....but we here all know dealers and the false roads non-lexia read codes can take us down.

Out of curiosity are you getting any faults logged via the "system check" button to the right of the steering wheel. (Most of the decent code readers are able to start a forced regen without the need for Lexia/Peugeot Planet) My friend rarely uses his laptop just his Autodiag code reader for regens.

Yes, ECU fault and check engine on the dash. But not all the time. Disappears after several engine starts.
I'll let the dealer to scan it and will see what they say. Then, depending of the price, I'll decide what to do with it (ei, dealer fix or independent).

I think I've managed to find a root cause of the issue.
Anyway, I've got DiagBox fully operational on my laptop.
I had to clean my DPF again and just need to find where in the software I can re-set new DPF values?
I'd really appreciate your help.

Don't know if there is anything to reset on the DPF - perhaps under engine ECU / repair there is an option to say you've changed the DPF so it starts the counter again for amount of additive in the filter?
