Bx 16v White

Unread post by xantiagreen »

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this particular BX 16v or worked on it, it's a phase 2 in white H441 YYX.
I have spoken to the current owner Steve from Kedington (CCC member), Suffolk pleasant chap who explained everything in detail, wondering if anyone on the forum knows or has dealt with Steve personally, there's a photo of Steve on the sellers information of the advert, the previous owner was a Mr Feast from Weybridge, Surrey.

£3.5k! Crikey - There's hope for us C5 owners in a few years yet!

I take it you've looked here too:

I've looked all over for a decent example of a 16v and one or two did pop up on C&C but they weren't the best. This one seems to be in very very good nick and with the low mileage I'm thinking it will be a very long time before another in this condition or close to it is advertised. The seller is a member of Citroen car club and seems to have had the car repaired with the relevant citroen specialists (Pleiades) I'm hoping someone can shed some info on the car. I did offer my xantia hdi as part ex and the answer was NO! :(
My funds can stretch to 2.5k (borrowed) the owner declined a 2.7k offer..

Cheers

I may have seen this car at the Northern section rally last year possibly . For 3.5k it needs to be one of the best if not the best available. They can look nice on top but can hide a lot of rust issues , rear door shuts, windscreen frame and door pillars to name a few . Would I have it , probably but it looks expensive next to my old Zx16v which I sold 2 years ago for half the price . I've owned 4 Bx16v's years ago and they really are great cars , nows your chance for a real gem . I doubt wether theres many left as nice , go on treat yourself .

I can see you're a keen BX fan Faz - but that's a lot to lay out IMHO - There are plenty of posts here with owners trying to get parts for their Xantias now, yet alone a BX - so I guess you have to hope it's not going to need anything soon! Anyway - if it's not meant to be - it's not meant to be - save your spondoolicks and you never know something else might turn up. :-D

Get a Zx volcane petrol or diesel and save a fortune , their a fantastic car and very underrated. And it'll handle way better imo .

The one on Ebay looks a real beauty Richard , I would be tempted myself but I'd be in bother with swmbo  #-o. Certainly better value than the Bx .

I saw the ad for this BX and thought yes it's quite a lot of money, but I think it will sell.
When you figure out what it cost to service and repair some of the modern cars today, £3.5K isn't that much.

It bloody well IS for a BX :), it's a fecking shed load....but if you want one (and it has to be one of the best ones at 3.5k) and you never intend to sell it, then why not if the car is that good.

My bro in law once paid 6k for one, a very long time ago.

I'm with Ken on this , I think to the right buyer ( crazy french car nut ) this is worth the money if its as nice as it sounds . Its basically buy it and cherish it. , I've known these bought for £1500 and had to have as much spent on them again to get them up to a good standard. Theres not many left in this condition now . How much would the equivalent Ford escort Rs turbo be with the same provenance , double or triple the price maybe . I hope it finds a good home .

I think the BX has reached that point now that it's very much worth "what someone is willing to pay for it."

In 2005 you could relatively easily pick up a very tidy Skoda Estelle for less than 500 quid (I paid 350 for a near mint 130GL with 26K on the clock that was a new vinyl roof and a good polish away from showroom fresh). In 2014 I paid two grand for a solid example but in need of a suspension overhaul, new head gasket and a number of cosmetic jobs. Simply because they have become virtually extinct in the interrim. The BX is now there too - which as with the Skoda means that getting some spares can be a right pain in the tail.

If it's really that tidy, I reckon it will sell at that price, though it might take a while for the right buyer to surface.

:( :( The words I did not want to hear from the seller came via a text at 5pm! :( :(

Liam (also owns a red 16v) seems to have beat me to it.... :argue: exactly what's been going on in my head since the text. :(
