Yes, I was just wondering where they could possible relocate those buttons to - and why bother at this late stage of the game? I wonder if this would now make it more difficult / realistically impossible for anyone to retrofit one of these to an earlier model that has the physical buttons - and wiring harness in place!

Not difficult at all,

You need the screen
Possibly screen to head unit cable
Headunit
Front button/air control panel

And of course a lexia to tell it what it has.

I guess they had been using rneg stock up and it was easier to move onto the smeg setup for the last ones being made.

Sorry I smirk a little when I read or type smeg :D

@KP - Just a comment - I already have the NG4 Navidrive 3D system and I'm perfectly happy with it. I appreciate that members have upgraded older systems to a more recent system - but this specific newer unit without the physical buttons for Parking Sensor disable, ESP and LDWS is what I'm specifically talking about. The older systems will have the electrical wiring directly to enable / disable these systems, whereas now it would seem these are completely controlled via the software interface on the new touchscreen as VAB indicates. The newer system must therefore have a different wiring harness in place which may not be practical to replace (the harness) for an older model. I doubt also that configuring with Diagbox will make any difference if the wiring and CAN data communication is handled completely differently.

The wiring for the buttons should make no odds. They merely send a small signal to the bsi or an ecu within the vehicle which you can do from diagbox to a certain extent, hence its moved to the touchscreen. I very much doubt Citroen went to the trouble of getting a new look designed and made up for the low volume of run out c5's....

I don't think the wiring (or lack of) would be any issue ... the RT6 can configure i.e. rear wipers, drive-me-home lamps (what you usually do on the instrument panel), so the nav unit can communicate wit the car with no issues, it just depends with what (that's probably a joint configuration of the latest BSI and the SMEG unit) ... the only thing that would be interesting to me is the MirroLink option, but for me to retain the external video input, reverse camera, I'd need to buy another video input device ... so the entire installation would be pretty pricey for very little gain

That's the jist of what I was trying to get at - there must be different BSI software at the least - if not a completely different BSI unit (probably for the later range of other PSA models with newer tech) to handle this. It's only when you get down to undertaking something like this (as you know full well VAB) that you find additional issues to resolve. I'll just wait to see if anyone is going to attempt this when one comes up on ebay! There you go VAB - another future upgrade project :-D

And why would you need those menu and vol buttons when they're on the steering wheel anyway?

Lol sod that, driver chooses what they want on and how loud, bad enough they can play with their own heating controls! If they don't like it they can drive their own car, use public transport, a taxi, or walk lol :D

Steering wheel controls are great for stealth mode to increase the tunes volume when there's an episode of The Waltons going on in the car!

VB, I just recalled something about scripts and checked back through this thread to see you mention Mira Scripts.
Is there a site with all the info on this mirascript stuff as it sounds like it offers a lot of tweaking of the units of your careful of course :)
