Heading from Aylesbury to Amersham (near to The Harte and Magpies) about 11:00 today I caught a glimpse of a cream coloured DS, but no more than that.

A N reg xantia in silver in macduff. I've seen it a few times now, it's a banger, not a cherished example.

Ahhh.....that is where your wrong

They are both Bf109's.......officially NOT Messerschmit's, ME being a British numbering system

(and the lower one, was not a low level fighter as it was fitted with Anti-Bomber rockets thus was a high altitude model, in fact the art work is a bit of a mish-mash but mainly "G-4" features)

Apologies Alasdair, I didn't consider the macinations of the Reichsluftfahrtministerium and the Bayerische Flugzeugwerke or the accuracy of the artwork when I posted up the picture of the kit! :)

In tribute to the Bristol 401 spotted yesterday, here are just a few examples of adverts from the 50's mainly outlining the component companies associated with the manufacture/sales/service of the 401. Its a documentation of the huge range of component suppliers in different parts of the country supporting and being supported by the manufacture of a motor vehicle in the 1950's.

Selected from this treasure trove of info for anyone interested in the classic car www.carbrochures.eu

Some selected for double-entendre value :)

I know this TVR. It, or rather its owner, works at the same place as I do and I often see it there...

Made a quick visit to the seaside yesterday between hospital visits and snapped this beauty at Blue Anchor Station :D

Image

Locomotive is No. 7828 'Odney Manor'

Absolutely gorgeous. Steam locomotives in steam really do seem to be living beings... Made my day to see it. Just having seen that one I saw Fowler 7F 53808 newly overhauled and looking very resplendent...

I also spotted a couple of very well-loved and tidy Riley RMs near the station I completely neglected to take pictures of

Looking up Wiki the Riley RM had almost as many versions as the Bayerische Flugzeugwerke 109 :!: :)

No if it was a two-tone RMD I think it would have been inexcusable not to get your camera out :!: :) so I presume the nice pair you saw were just boring and black!
