I keep saying I will have to go there, been to Beamish several times but not yet to Dudley or Ironbridge - must try harder.

Re: Tartan Travel Rugs and other Nostalgic Motoring Accessories
One of the major attractions are the Singing Caverns. These were manually dug (may have also used explosives), mainly (IIRC) after the limestone. The largest cave is (including the flooded area) large enough to take St Pauls Cathedral 7 times over (it is also, as far as I can recall, the only non living thing to have a Blue Peter badge!).

Came across this not sure if it ever made its way from California to the UK, or how many Americans were persuaded to part with $5.95 for a "lefty".

That picture appears to depict it's fitment in a beetle. Perfectly safe, given the lack of acceleration those hateful devices have .

I had sub 7sec's from one of mine, and would have another tomorrow if I could use it. Love a good Beetle meBenC5HDi wrote:That picture appears to depict it's fitment in a beetle. Perfectly safe, given the lack of acceleration those hateful devices have .

I'd wager it wasn't a 1968 1200cc bog standard one like mine was. I owned it in Brazil years ago. To be fair to it, it was great for smoking lots of weed in and pottering down to the beach, with it's lazy throbbing "torque" and lack of speed.Stickyfinger wrote:I had sub 7sec's from one of mine, and would have another tomorrow if I could use it. Re: Tartan Travel Rugs and other Nostalgic Motoring Accessories
In the early days of motoring, specific car attire was necessary due to the exposure to the elements in many models, but in the 1970's the car coat made a bit of a revival. I would class this example being sported by Bob as being a "Car Coat".
Its the collar for me that does it, although I would have preferred a Brushed Nylon static electricity generator main fabric, rather than the actual or fake leather look, for the archetypal 70's car coat for me.
Regards Neil

Yup, all of that (or most of it) - plus jump leads, tow rope, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, puncture repair kit [for a long jaunt, a 2nd spare wheel (AND an inner tube in the 2CV) & enough oil for an oil change (after all, international meetings can involve distances greater than service intervals) all x 3 &, in the Jeep, magnetic work lamp & amber beacon - & at least one cone.
