I will start on this job in 24 hours..

decided to try and tackle myself.. going to change pads and discs, and have a clean up and 'a look abbaate' is Micky Flanagan says...
Have found some pointers online.. will take a pic or two.. just hope the work fixes the EPB.. quite sure the pads and discs need doing anyway..
You're going to like this.... possibly.....
The Citroen workshop procedure for replacing the rear discs (TEVES brakes) makes no mention of having to use the Lexia/Diagbox at all to disable the handbrake mechanism first or to re-enable it at the end, it just gives a run through of what you'd normally expect to do - and the procedure is specifically titled for the electronic parking brake version so it's apparently not a mistake :^o [-o< 8-[ Whilst there are other extra bits of info I've missed out for clarity, it ends with:
"Check the brake fluid level and top up if necessary.
Activate the electric handbrake control.
Check the immobilisation of the wheels.
Return the vehicle to its wheels."

Compare that with the procedure for just replacing the pads where it does say you have to use the Lexia/Diagbox #-o
The disc replacement procedure includes removing the pads and winding back the pistons, which is a common operation for both pad replacement and disc replacement. Work that one out :-D

It does say you should replace the main caliper bracket bolts with new each time they're removed....... !! New ones to be torqued up to 108NM.

Don't forget to remove your LDS cap first, and then replace it once you're back on the ground :)

That's the reason why I have it on manual mode and try and use it only where necessary!

Is there easy way to lubricate hand brake cables? Looked at them when changed summer tires, but they seem like really "sealed".

Watching with interest as It will come my turn.

Suggestion can we create a sticky or something similar for the C5 x7 for the 'routine jobs' with tips and photos.

Without wanting to upset the apple cart, Planet Citroën as an example have posting sections for each car model (current and past), a section for each of the audio systems and then for general areas like buying and selling, tutorials and how to section etc:-

http://www.planete-citroen.com/forum/index.php

It does make things easier to find rather than relying on the search - which can bring up thousands of posts as we all know. People just create the topic under each of the main headings that are setup by the Admins. Would this be something people would like to see I wonder? Rope and Noose at the ready! 8-[

chaps some help needed again/already ;)
I abandoned doing much tonight.. but I thought I would take the wheels off and start to grind the disc edges to help with pad removal.. however before that I checked I could put handbrake into manual mode!
nope..
I went into the main menu on car.. there were parameters and comfort and lighting or something.. I went into comfort and the only option is what doors are unlocked by the plip? no way to set parking brake as manual..(this is country dependant according to handbook)

I spent a good hour wandering around the diagbox.. no luck there for anything re: handbrake configurations..
any thoughts chaps?
J
Anyway using Diagbox I have added this option back onto the menu and this is the mode I prefer to use.
hi Marc, can you give me any clues on how to add options in DB? I have been in overhaul, pre delivery, maintenance and god knows where else lol and my lack of DB knowledge is shining through! we really do need a diagbox flow chart creating!

OK, - I had a feeling that when configuring comfort I lost another option, so had to go back in and change back again - I just need to find the one - so if car is resting now, I'll have a dig in the morning for you
