Yes first spots with original photography of the season for me...

Somewhere in deepest Newburn an interesting pair

Don't know that much about fire-engines...looks like its a Volvo FL6 5,480 cc... but that particular one doubles as a mobile bar for the Box-Social Brewery.

Image

Whenever it appears at an event the public like the novelty of filling up their glasses from the fire-engine's six taps.

...And I have to say that "Gentleman's Nectar" is one of the best beers I have ever tasted...its Nectar!

Just come back in from removing the cobwebs from my motorbike - a varied selection of motors seen within the first 20 minutes of riding. Not sure the Cobra replica or Porsche can be classed as classics as such, but interesting to see them nonetheless.
The little MG was nicely spattered with mud around its rear end, looking like it was just on its way home from a hill climb event.

During the week I also saw what I think was a lovely old Lanchester parked up - the type where it's compulsory to wear a cravat and an item of Tweed clothing to be allowed to drive it :)

Quite a crop there, including what must be a bit of a French rarity...the little red Rosengart.

The one from this side of the atlantic is an early Ford Cortina Mk II with a 1500 engine if Autotrader vehicle check is to be believed.

My knowledge of American cars is poor, but I would guess a Buick if pushed...its rear looks a bit familiar...a bloke not far from me has a Buick imported from Toronto in his garage quite similar.

The American is a Mercury (8?) and the Cortina is a special, it has also broken down.

I wonder what Herbert Austin would think if he could see what allowing the Germans and French to build his Austin Sevens under license would result in. :)

The mystery vehicle was back today, not sure if it's a Lanchester - what does the panel think ? (Apologies for the lousy quality, my truck's dashcam is showing its age these days :( )

Image

And also spotted about 10 minutes later - a perfect example of a Renault 5. The Renault garage sticker in the back window showed it hailed from Jersey, so it probably had an easy life pottering around dodging Bergerac and ferrying cash from one tax-haven bank account to another :-D

Not the clearest picture bobins but I think that's an Armstrong Siddeley.

I drove past it a bit slower today and you are correct, it is indeed an Armstrong Siddeley :) 10/10 for deducing that from my lousy image :)

I worked on a few of them back in the sixties, good cars, the first cars I came across with hydraulic tappets.
They used to suffer with the same problem some current Citroen turbos have with a blocked gauze filter in the oil line to the tappets and they'd rattle terribly until you unblocked it, frightened the owners. :-D
