Re: Hydractive Humming...
Back to this again unfortunately... I was having trouble with my battery (car was having trouble starting) I put it down to the battery being on its way out). I purchased a new battery a month ago and all good. Came back to the car after 10 days away and it wouldn't start which I thought was a bit unusual. So started looking for a battery drain and then realised that the hum is still there and it doesn't switch off after 30 seconds but after exactly 10 minutes, which I assume is the cause of my battery drain.
I even pulled the Hydractive 20A fuse out and the humming stopped. Grateful for ideas on how to rectify this.

Re: Hydractive Humming...
I think that your symptoms indicate that one of the door or bonnet or boot switches is not registering that the door etc is shut, although you should see that on the dash display...

Re: Hydractive Humming...
I have never seen a bonnet or boot indicator on the dash display on the Xantias
.
Do they actually show when open?

Sorry, I thought it was an XM. Same diagnosis though. A lexia should tell what is really happening.

Re: Hydractive Humming...
This is more often than not the boot switch George. It happened on mine...
The switch is buried deep in the hasp. Best to just disconnect it as it's normally open. You will find the brown connector just under the trim on the boot sill..
The switch itself is very tiny and breaks apart...

Re: Hydractive Humming...
You guys are great! Thanks for the replies.
Jim, you were spot on, disconnected it, locked the car and the noise went in 30 seconds.. Very pleased.
Here's a photo of the culprit in situ:

I removed the offending switch so I can remember to find a replacement:

Re: Hydractive Humming...
They can be difficult to find. My last Xantia had exactly this problem, which caused her alarm problems (until, as a stop gap, I disconnected it). I asked here on the forum if anybody had a replacement switch, and citroenxm came through with one.
