Will the old dear not drag its spheres that far then ?
Ime sure she will but ime not going to drive all the way from Cornwall just to show off a car. These rallies need to be a lot closer to the west country before i get involved. Anyway, its only a car.

I'd never take my car to a show to show it off, even if I had one worth showing. I'd go in it to see my mates who might be there, but that's all.

Certainly wouldn't show mine off - in fact probably best hidden somewhere :(

Wash it, drive up to show, park up, open bonnet if you feel like, lock car and walk off to get coffee/have a natter, occasional visits to car to discuss some technical question/get a free diagnosis, walk off to get a coffee, ...show over

Never lock it Alastair - might never get back in it.*
Washing it won't remove the battle scars either.

It's the wandering around and nattering to the other FCF, CXC and CCC members that is the only attraction - and the fine vehicles that eclipse mine, of course.

*rarely, anyway.
I may have mentioned a trip to Lidle to buy spanners for grandson and files for me.
Got out and went to the boot for bags. Walking away from the car tried to lock it and it didn't respond so though "sod it" and went into the shop.
When I returned, discovered the reason it wouldn't lock - driver's door wide open (Kindle on passenger seat and about £80 in change in the ashtray too)
Honest folks use that Lidle :)

5 hour drive to show, enjoy the show, drive 10 mins to Boutique B&B, stay over (all romantic like/big dinner/Pint), visit nice place on the way back till Lunch, nice lunch, drive back

There are ways :)

The last one I went to was a 7 hr drive, a b&b, a 2 hr drive another b&b then 5hr drive. I hid the car, as who turns up to a citroen car show in a 10 year old absolute bucket of a fiesta van? I went, and will go again for the atmosphere and camaraderie of the show.

Only going to do local shows here in Cornwall, Mt Edgcumbe will be a good one for me but i have to decide whether i take the DS or my Lightweight Landrover, which is older. Cant do both.
CCC need to move their shows about a bit, this has been well discussed on other forums as well. Keeping them in the same place every year does put some of us at a dissadvantage.
I cant stay at a BnB as ive no one to look after my dogs whilst ime away and i wont put them in a kennel just for the sake of visiting a car show. So you see, there isnt always a simple answer.
Not complaining though, living in God's country has its advantages.

The principle of "in the center of the country" makes everyone drive long distances for sure.....true democracy :)

I can remember the centre of the country being discussed on some forum I was on. I can't remember where it was worked out to, probably what most of you guys would call, up north! Of course for me, up north is way, way down south! [emoji13] [emoji23]

Depends on which country though...

England is now said to be Fenny Drayton, previously having been Meriden.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-le ... e-22890463

That's using the centroid method. Other countries, using this method, are:
* United Kingdom of GB & NI - A position "in the middle of Morecambe Bay", approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) off the coast at Morecambe, Lancashire
* Great Britain (including off-shore islands) - Whitendale Hanging Stones, near Brennand Farm, outside Dunsop Bridge, Lancashire in the Forest of Bowland
* Great Britain (excluding off-shore islands) - A field south of Calderstones Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, near Whalley, Lancashire
* Wales - Near Cwmystwyth, Devil's Bridge, Ceredigion
* N Ireland - Annaghone, near Cookstown, County Tyrone
* Scotland - Between Blair Atholl and Dalwhinnie, Perthshire

Thank you Wikipedia for that information - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centre_po ... ed_Kingdom
