'2' to positive and '1' is the LIN (Local Interconnect Network) or serial as Cachacerio says.

Well I spent ages typing up the procedure and then I was logged out so lost all my textbobins wrote:I've delved back into my old posts from three years ago !! and found I'd posted this in relation to testing the battery without using a Midtronics tester:
"I think there's an option to check the battery condition using Diagbox without the Midtronics. ISTR it was something along the lines of..... checking the battery and/or voltage using Midtronics tester -> click here if Midtronics tester not available. You were then presented with a few procedures along the lines of: turn ignition on, turn lights on for 10 minutes, don't open or close doors, sing La Marseillaise at the top of your voice, etc. There was no option using this route to connect a Midtronics tester. This would have been using Diagbox somewhere around v6.20. It was a few months ago that I experimented with this technique, so not all of the procedures may be accurate"
I bought one of these, it arrived this morning, all installed on my laptop (7.57) connected up to my C5 X7, found the VIN, click on 'global test' - only says 'no dialogue' next to each box ???????? driving me mad - anyone ??GiveMeABreak wrote:I just bought the A 1280Z from Easydiagnostics a month ago link here:

This is the latest revision and from UK supplier. Has all the hardware, works with C5 X7 and all files supplied on a USB flash drive ready to install. Sharon will answer any questions you have prior to purchase and for £92 you can't go wrong for peace of mind.

HI Marc, thanks for the help.... still no luck ! I attached the Actia to each USB port on my laptop (4 of them) and made sure the drivers are installed. The firewall is permanently off for everything. No antivirus running on my laptop. Went to the car, plugged in the Actia, launched Diagbox, selected car (C5 X7), plugged in VCI - confirmed VIN, click on 'fault finding', 'ignition on' screen appears so I turn on the ignition, still says 'no dialogue' next to each box (the padlock showing connection on the top right of the screen seems to go green on and off), then the Global test appears on my screen only to do the same, 'no dialogue' next to each boxGiveMeABreak wrote:That sounds like it's not communicating. Before you hook anything up to the car, close Diagbox and plug in the USB cable from the Actia to each USB port on the PC in turn - but wait until the drivers are installed - this can take a few minutes on each port. |That will ensure all the drivers are on. Make sure you have allowed all the firewall requests. Then go to the car, plug in your USB from Actia to the laptop, launch Diagbox and select your car as normal. Plug in the VCI when asked and confirm and it should read the VIN, confirm the VIN and then try the Global Test again. You should hear it clicking away as it starts going through the ECUs. If you are not getting any communication, try starting the engine after confirming the VIN but before you launch the Global Test.
If none of this works - do you have an antivirus programme running - and more to the point was it running whilst installing Diagbox? If so, it can pick up some executables in Diagbox as a virus and will quarantine or delete them depending on your settings. It is best to disable your antivirus software whilst installing Diagbox and any updates.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Marc, I know it is Windows XP, not sure where to see if it is 32 or 64bit?GiveMeABreak wrote:@C5Rich - Rich, can you please confirm what Windows version you are running on your laptop is and whether it is 32 or 64 Bit?
Right-click on 'My Computer' and choose 'Properties'. In the information screen, it will tell you if you have a 32 or 64 bit OS installed. I just want to eliminate some possibles.c5rich wrote:Hi Marc, I know it is Windows XP, not sure where to see if it is 32 or 64bit?GiveMeABreak wrote:@C5Rich - Rich, can you please confirm what Windows version you are running on your laptop is and whether it is 32 or 64 Bit?
