C5 X7 body style from reg.no?

Unread post by Lenny »

Hi all,

Can anybody think of a way that I can tell if a car is a saloon or estate from the reg.no?
I know this sounds odd but so is the advert I've seen!

Cheers,
Lenny.

If you go to Halfrauds and pretend you're looking for car bulbs, enter the reg and it should come back with Saloon Estate etc.:

Thanks for that.
It comes up as a saloon on there but claims to be an estate in the ad.
Perhaps the front end is from a saloon but the back is from an estate? :-D
I'll be interested to see the photos when they arrive!
Cheers

If you go onto GSF website, and enter the reg you will get a bit more detail (such as engine size and fuel type, as well as body style).

Go to the MOT check website. Put the reg and make of car and it will tell you all you need to know , including the MOT history.

This is *essential* to do before you even go and look at a car these days.

I did that and that's what made me question it.
The DVLA listed the C02 as 189 and I thought that the estate/Tourer was 191. I need to get out more really.

GSF Carparts? Didn't work for me, just lists all the parts available - Doesn't give body style for my X7
Nor does the MOT site - again only states the fuel type CC, year of manfacture etc.:

Lenny wants to know whether Saloon / Estate

Just checked a known X7 Estate RE08 LTX (in the public domain) on the Halfrauds site as per my post and it comes back correct as Estate.

I cannot offer an opinion on this. I just tried 3 different vehicles, and I got back the correct results (body type, fuel type).

Just checked a known X7 Estate RE08 LTX (in the public domain) on the Halfrauds site as per my post and it comes back correct as Estate.

According to the dvla that plate belongs to a blue Tourer with the 2.7hdi engine...

Try the regd in a tyre comparison site, or an oil/lubricant site. National tyres will give you the body type from the regd.

The car in the ad turned out to be a saloon and I was after a Tourer.
Quite why they put the word 'estate' in the ad is beyond me but I'm pleased I found out before travelling from North Lincolnshire to Brighton!

The National Tyres site was pretty good. It correctly identified both my 2003 C5 and my new 2013 C5 as estates but only delivered the tyre size, with no car information at all, for the 2001 Xsara.

Lenny, you'd be surprised how many people, dealers included don't have a clue what they are selling. Others just try to mislead customers, hoping they are not "Citroen savvy"
First to see will by! Top of the range, fully loaded ! Yeah, and they are selling a VTR.
C5 2009 for sale 2010 MY, Diesel 5 door hatch! (no such car)
Citroen C5 for sale 2006, new shape.
The list goes on.
