This is the complete build spec of your car. (Please let me know when you have downloaded it and I will then remove the file to save space.

The strut allows controlled vertical movement and that is damped by the sphere....

May I ask, are you planning on changing the spheres yourself ?

The Haynes book on the C5 will help you but please be 100% sure about safety as well as the needs of a clean working environment/habits with Hydro Active suspension.
It is not hard if you have (limited) the correct tools, a Sphere removal tool especially is important as they can be VERY tight on the rear.
Many recommend a chain, often this is insignificant on rears and without a lift ramp often near to impossible if they have been on a long time/changed by "the Hulk" last time. You will also NEED new seals remember.

The costs of a garage that knows what they are doing and have the tools/technique is minimal, often the sphere cost is marginal over EBay + Delivery

I would also suggest a specialist looking at your car will be advice worth its weight in gold.

^ Couldn't agree more.
Until you acquire more knowledge of the car I would advise against attempting this yourself.

I have downloaded the file - this I really appreciate :)

Also I have a local mechanic that if I supply the parts he can fit. He has a garage car lift and can get under no problem.

I've now ordered the spheres and also ordered new tailgate gas struts (the big ones) he will fit them also. Looks a nasty job as it looks like he will have to loosen the roof liner

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Cheers all for the support 8-) 8-) 8-)

NP...good luck and all that, please update and if you can, take photos of the underside (and bits) , post them and we can all look/check/comment for you.

Sphere removal tool..there is (often) a reason it is not a chain being used :)

Are you 100% sure about how to check your LDS levels ?....over filling is not good either.
The LDS should be LEVEL with the bottom of the filler filter when DEPRESURISED.....you can loose up to 1/2 ltr changing one sphere.....get 2 ltrs, keep one in the boot.

Just some feed back...Had the new spheres fitted today and it has fixed my problems so very please indeed. No more swaying about or hearing banging noises :-)
The raising and lowering seems to work a lot better as well. Maybe the new hydraulic oil has made some difference.
Cheers all !
