Dear all,
A few days ago, I realized that I am no longer able to lower or rise the suspension by depressing the up and down arrow button.
This was followed by the suspension faulty message and the headlamp light was found blinking after starting the car.
I tried to reset the battery several times but to no avail. Now the rear seems higher than normal.
What should I do next? I am not sure whether the suspension fluid is running low or what? I do not have access to a Lexia here.
Kindly advise me.
Thank you very much.
Regards,
Suspension Faulty Message Appeared!

Re: Suspension Faulty Message Appeared!
First thing to do is to check out the rear suspension height corrector, attached to the rear axle. These can sometimes seize up and can be sprayed with some lubricant to free them up. Secondly, do you have the Xenon directional lighting on your car? If so the suspension height correctors also provide information to the headlight levelling system, which could be causing the problem there.
Here sis a video (very poor quality), but look at about 1 minute 30 into it and you will see the height corrector linkage. It's like a 'bone shaped' rod as you'll see.
Warning Don't ever go underneath the car unless it is supported on a ramp or a lift - as the suspension could drop and the car will crush you!

Hi Marc,
Thank you very much for the advice. I will first deactivate the directional headlight and hopefully it will return to normal. Otherwise, I will have get the mechanic to inspect the height corrector.

By disabling directional headlight, the blinking headlamp signal will disappear from the dashboard but the suspension faulty message still appear. It looks like there is no choice but to go with the height corrector adjustment.
Is there a chance that the suspension arms might be faulty or there is a need to top up the suspension fluid?
Kindly advise me.
Thank you very much.

Re: Suspension Faulty Message Appeared!
You can check the fluid visually - for your vehicle, unscrew the cap and you should see the Min an Max levels marked on the inner neck. Earlier models had a mark on the tank itself and there were 3 marks - Min, Max and a third Max level which was for vehicles with Hydractive 3+ only. From RPO 09065 (yours is 10931) they are checked as I said via the inside of the cap and there are only 2 levels.
I doubt the 'arms' will be faulty, it is more likely to be the rear height corrector that has seized, so just needs to be put on a lft and the mechanism lubricated as I mentioned in the earlier post (and shown in the Video).

Re: Suspension Faulty Message Appeared!
On the C5 the height corrector is electronic. You still have the clamp on the anti-roll bar, with a dog-bone (metal), but this then links to a small electronic box (with a 3 wire connector) that behaves like a variable resistor.
