I have a 2003 C5 and the drivers side inertial reel does not wind up the webbing. However when I take the seat belt off and leave the slack laying on the seat the next morning it has fully wound itself back. You can see it winding really slowly.
To get to the reel it looks like I may have to remove the seat. Any sugestions on this please?
Cheers again

Re: C5 inertia reel
Normal for C5s. Pull the belt right out and give it a damned good clean and also clean the guides.
A dose of silicon spray after that can help but there is a suggestion that it may ultimately damage the webbing.
Just done mine this morning

Re: C5 inertia reel
I got some of this to use on my safety belt. She sailed through the MoT (after a couple of unrelated issues were dealt with);

Just get the belt properly clean first and then use this stuff.

Re: C5 inertia reel
My car also needs this attention. What can I clean the belt with prior to using the spray?

Re: C5 inertia reel
I just used some car fabric cleaning spray. The main thing is to have plenty of paper towel (especially if the belt is dirty). I pulled the belt out to its full length, sprayed both sides with the cleaning foam (one section at a time), cleaned it off and then looked at the section to see if it was clean enough (if not, repeat), and then go on to the next section and repeat. Once it was clean to look and touch apply the silicone spray.

Re: C5 inertia reel
Cheers all - I'll have a go tomorrow. I might take the seat out and remove the cover the get to the whole belt.

Re: C5 inertia reel
I used the silicon method on my Mk1/2....worked a tread.
Now the X7 is developing a slow belt

Fixed my slow belt yesterday! The silicon is the way to go after a good clean.
I thought it was the inertia reel itself so this trick is brilliant Thanks again.
