Tyre size

Post by The Dog Walker »

Any ideas why my secondhand Dispatch has 185's fitted instead of the 195's that it should have and would have come with ?

Lower cost of a tyre, misread required tyre declaration, sense of humor from the first owner ... you name it ... which dimension is written in the car's papers, the 195?

@ sticky - Let's be reasonable here, my reasons are more realistic ... :D

Yep....

I am in one of those moods (a Chinese "Interior Designer" and a little misunderstanding today !) sry

Really, it will almost certainly be costs as the reason

Yeah, it's in the book as 195 and I've had a quick look on another and it had 195's all round. Any advantages or disadvantages to the slightly narrower tyre then ? I'll only ever be carrying dogs in the van.

Cannot really see much of a problem, it is hardly a massive drop and if your not a racer.................

The 195 will give a better ride unless it has a lower profile.

The load rating of the tyre may also be different. If it's lower and the Dispatch carries heavy loads that could be important.

Different tyre manufacturers recommend different sizes to the car maker on some vehicles, I note that Michelin especially doesn't always follow what the handbook says.
