No Motor sport history on Classics (like Ford Escorts ect)
No "Race" history to speak of..
Citroen - 9 World Rally Championship drivers titles
Ford - 3 World Rally championship drivers titles.

Citroen - 8 World Rally constructors titles
Ford - 1 World Rally constructors titles

Citroen - 94 WRC victories
Ford - 76 WRC victories

And Ford are supposed to be one of the "Greats".

Citroen's current situation makes a mockery of the "win on Sunday, sell on Monday" salesman's saying doesn't it?

Citroen also just won the last two World Touring car championships but they don't count as they're tedious drivel.

I don't even think they marketed it that well there. That was more patriotism buying French cars as I understand it!

Just to be clear, April is the last month of production of RHD C5, so if you order one now it will be built.
LHD production continues for a while longer, until early 2017 I believe.
I've seen the bulletin that went to all the UK Citroen Dealers.
There were 10 unsold C5 in the UK, as of this morning, 7 of those are Exclusive, so have hydractive suspension.
Get one while you can!

I was told by the dealer in Southport you can only have hydractive suspension on the Exclusive, so the estate is near as damn it £25k and they are going for the DS styling in the future

If you look on the Citroen uk website and use the 'configurator' for the estate, list price for a VTR+ (now the base model) in plain old white and no options is 25.5k, a fully specced exclusive in shiny metallic is 35k. Everybody expects big discounts I'm sure, but list price is in Merc/BMW territory and they depreciate like crazy. For company car users that means high list price = high taxable benefit, and low value after 3 years = high lease costs: no wonder they never sold in volume.

The "DS"* branding for their top end stuff means Citroen is now a styling company not an engineering company. I thought I read some time ago that he new C5 would come out of a GM/Opel plant in Germany - a Vauxhall Insignificant with Citroen badges.

* don't you just hate it when people sell things called Minis that are huge, you can travel on the Great Western but it bears no resemblance to the proper Great Western when it was the greatest railway company in the world, and DS means lumpy styling not brilliant engineering. You can get a great building listed so nobody can mess with it, how about listing "heritage brands" and protecting their use?

DS used to mean something, but now it stands for "Dreary Styling", as far as I can tell.

I'm not sure if that's ever going to happen now as they dropped a lot of plans shortly afterwards including scrapping their large car program, instead, moving forward with small engine development. But talking partnerships, they are in Bed with Toyota, Ford for Smart device links and Car App technologies, developing a new research Lab in Morocco, and are now going to produce latest their vehicles in Iran too! They're also developing a strategy with Jaguar / Landrover / Tata for long-term platform and engine sharing with plans to make the 208 308 3008 in India.

Tavares, the CEO is continuing the drive on globalisation of the group. It's getting more confusing too when you look at China. We now have the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile (DPCA) and Changan PSA Automobile (CAPSA). CAPSA will focus on local production of the DS3, DS4, DS5 an the new DS6 SUV (to be showcased at Beijing Motor show this year), with DPCA building Peugeot, Citroen and Feng Shen (DPCA own brand) vehicles. They'll have 5 plants in China and an R&D centre. The question is, will we see any of the new technologies / vehicles exported over here? Possible if the Chinese economic slowdown continues!

There's a long standing connection between Iran and PSA since PSA acquired the Rootes Group, Rootes having been there for many years before.
