I had the same dilemma recently. I bought a second hand engine from a crash damaged car.. was a big risk but worked for me.. it was relatively cheap.. about 4 times cheaper I imagine than a recon. And the cost of a recon would have been way more than the value of the car..
I did my best to ascertain the engine was only 60k .. half the original.. tough call though for you

Gibbo I was thinking camper van but still not sure.. may go big again now.. may not go down that road.. don't know

Is that the same as the one Jeremy Clarkson showed off after the TG Camper Van race? If so, there was a sports car in the space under the flooring.

Not the same one HR, it's one I photographed at a fair in the States last October.

Some fun videos from that fair here.

Get something with genuine FSH and you cant go far wrong! The key is regular and proper oil changes! The 1.9d being more basic then the TD or HDi should fare better then a HDi though, they have prooved a good unit, I had a HDi in a Xantia and its still going at 300,000 miles!!

DW8s common in the late 306s, least if its in a car you can hear it running and asses the engine first.. theres a few cheap ones on ebay now!
