Diagbox / Lexia Software Change Logs

Post by GiveMeABreak »

For those members interested, I've assembled all the Diagbox change logs, detailing the patches, issues and fixes from version 6.39 (7.06) on. As there are quite a few updates, I have created a section on the Forum Wiki site - here is the link:
http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/wiki/Di ... 9/7.06_On)

Members often ask "Do I need to upgrade my version"? Well hopefully, by looking at the version you have and scanning through the changes made on later versions, you will be able to see if there is anything in particular that affects your vehicle. As an example, I found some telecoding issues that affected my C5 X7 in Version 7.66 that were later corrected - so that warranted me upgrading, as my central locking plip options had disappeared from the central display after using a prior version!

Just be aware:- before making a decision about upgrading yourDiagbox version, make sure your hardware interface will support any firmware upgrade that may be needed to use the later versions of the software. If an update requires a newer firmware version, it will attempt to upgrade the hardware, so if your interface is too old, it may not work and could end up bricking your hardware :cry:

Edit: URL now working correctly.

As an aside, are the "oscilloscope" updates mentioned for PSA kit with an actual 'scope, or can they display on Diagbox :?: Curious....

These updates were of course meant for the Garage Technicians, so it will refer to additional measurement equipment Harry. I included them for completeness as I'm sure some members have garages and possible additional kit. :)

Great guide thank you. I wanted to add a little bit, to stop it attempting to upgrade the interface firmware (which can kill it as you note) you can disable this (at your own risk as newer versions of Diagbox may not like older interface firmware) but it would save having to buy another interface if it zapped it. I do not have specifics on which interface will survive a firmware update or not, I'd expect some of the 'cheaper' ones to be suspect however but that's not always the case.

To tell Diagbox to not update the firmware in the interface:

First ensure that Diagbox is shut down completely then open c:\ awroot \ bin \ launcher \ ap.ini

Near the top of that file find...

Code: Select all

MAJ_COM=TRUE
Change to...

Code: Select all

MAJ_COM=FALSE
Save the change. I would *strongly* recommend a reboot now before attempting to use it as some services are still running and it would be prudent to restart to ensure the change is 'noted'

No problem. I should point out that 'tweak' was not mine it was provided by someone else a long time ago, I'm not sure if it was on here or elsewhere however.
It does work (and prevent firmware updates) in most cases, but there's no 100% guarantee however. I think what is more difficult is deciding if your hardware will accept a firmware update or not.
Andy.
