Thanks a lot for all your replies, it seems a bit of a lotto with budget tyres, I think I will push the boat out and give either Michelins ( which I always used when I had my tyre business ) as the cost was swallowed up or a pair of Goodyears I only need front ones as has been stated the rears last for ever,
thanks again
Bill

I put 4 Goodyear efficient grip on to my c4 vts, it improved it by miles for comfort and grip compared to maxxis that were on it and only 1/2 done.

Re: Xantia 2.0 HDI 90bhp estate tyres
I am about to get 4 tyres for my Xantia (90 estate). I've done 30000 on the Continentals, that I had fitted 7yrs ago. Interestingly, the garage I went to suggested 185/65/15/88t. Probably most profitable for them. I checked on tyreshopper (I recommend the site), and found that they specify 205/60/15 ( I forget the load and speed ratings). However, 195/65/VR1**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]/91V Goodyear efficient grip performance come out at £48.40each (fully fitted).
Which is cheaper than the 205's and the 185's. Seems to me that an upgrade to 195's is the way to go. BTW budget ones are about £38, for RovelloRHP-778.
I've had no problems with the 185's over the 7 yes. I'm working as a courier now, so need good grip, fuel efficiency and the reduction in db's will be welcome.
Obviously, if I had a 110 I would be having to fit 205's.
Regards to all Shaun

The taller the tyres the better the ride so I would stick with the 195/65. I have always used budget tyres for cost reasons but the last two I had were Michelin economy which were not much dearer, they came out very well in the Which? test for quietness and long life and I'm very pleased with mine, they didn't rate the best for grip but for the speed I drive at its not important.

Re: Xantia 2.0 HDI 90bhp estate tyres
On the subject of tyres and wheels, i noticed the exclusives use 205/60/15 which are fairly fat, but googling seems to suggest that they're 6j, so better suited for a 185/195 width! how come citroen have fitted a slightly fatter tyre?

They seem to be interchangeable, my XM's had either 195/65/15s or 205/60/15s presumably the outside diameter is the same.
