As the uber low miler Xantia has no history of a cambelt change, and appears to be on its original 18 year old spheres I will get them both changed!
Now I don't do cambelts myself.
I have a local frequently garage I trust to do all my standard work (not hydraulic stuff), is it a straight forward job that would take a couple of hours?

3/4 quarters of an hour for the 8v Tim and an hour tops for the 16v
You only have to insert one special tool to hold the cams in place on the 16v cambelt change Tim
I can still rattle them off in half an hour all day long.
If he is charging you anymore than this, he is having far too many tea/smoke breaks

They charge on book times as do most garages these days although they aren't expensive.
Sadly your a bit far away for me to bring it down for you to change it faster than a speeding bullet!

I managed do a dw8 (8v diesel) belt in about an hour start to finish and i'd never done a belt before! Should be a cakewalk for a garage!
