C5 X7 Park Brake issues.... anyone?

Post by citroenxm »

Hi all,

Mums X7 C5 had a siezed parking brake on the off side today, the car is an 08 Exclusive, so it has electric parking brake...

MY first question is: Is there a known issue with sticky calipers??

They called out the break down today because it was stuck solid, I couldnt get to them, the breakdown man has managed to remove the cable from the caliper, and now its not sticking, this tells me that its not a caliper issue but possibly a cable issue or solinoid... however, looking on service citroen I notice the cables are not available on their own, OR is there any cables, are the solinoids built into the caliper...???

Anyone else been here? Thanks...

I do not know a lot (never had a problem), but I do know there are very strict procedures to follow for the rear electric brakes.....do not let people "try stuff" on them unless you are very sure. The parts are expensive.
A few of the guys will answer in more detail as they have access to the service procedure docs.

Sorry if that was a Granny/Eggs type warning.

I don't normally let anyone do work on mums or mine at all... but they were stranded. But already they have shown they dont know.. and said the cables run to the front which according to service citroen they run to the switch in the centre console and the controller is at the rear and the cables are not listed individually... and only as a complete unit which I didnt like the look of the price...

Here's the service procedure for the electric parking brake, don't know whether or not it will be of any help ... also, free of charge, the parts that make up the electric handbrake ... for reference purposes ...
