Diagbox/Servicebox

Unread post by Stempy »

The laptop I use for Diagbox/Lexia is used solely for that purpose and has very little else on it. Should I be wary of installing my copy of Servicebox as I seem to recall that one may upset the other?

Yes, SEDRE & DocBackup should be ideally installed first because the Lexia software runs a process (PsaAgent.Exe) that interferes with installation. You must terminate the PsaAgent.exe process from the Task Manager first before you install.

What errors are you getting and can you confirm your Windows version, the browser you are using and version, and what errors when you launch Docbackup?

Windows 7 32 bit, IE11, URL shows as 127.0.0.1:6091/docbackup and the page shows several languages saying - A technical problem occurred. Please try to reconnect later. The title bar shows - ?bandeau.title?

Right, first thing, have you got these 2 files installed:- msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll? They need to go into your Windows\System32 Folder. After that, reboot and try Google Chrome, as there are issues with DocBackup on IE 11.

No, don't have either of those. Can I just copy them from another PC? Don't fancy downloading them from the web much.

Yes - if you have access to them from another PC - that will be fine. Then, once copied, open up a command prompt as an Administrator. Then type: regsvr32 /i msvcp71.dll and enter, then do the same for the other: regsvr32 /i msvcr71.dll and hit enter. Reboot and see if that will help.

Stempy - one other thing - regarding my previous post regarding Chrome browser. Google have from version 45 (released Sept. 2015) removed Java applet support from their browser, so this will likely affect Chrome when using DocBackup. The other solution is to revert Internet Explorer back from version 11 (which as I said doesn't work well if at all with DocBackup) to an earlier version.
To do this, go to 'Control Panel', 'Programs and Features', 'Uninstall or change a program', then select 'View Installed Updates' from the left panel. Browse down the list until you find 'Internet Explorer 11' and uninstall it. Confirm that you want to uninstall it and restart your PC when prompted.
Once it reboots, you will automatically have an earlier version of IE (it will be 8, 9 or 10 depending).
You will then need to stop Windows Update from updating IE to a newer version. So go to Windows Update, (make sure it isn't set to automatically install the updates first), if it is, change this to notify you, but let you decide whether to install. Once it provides a list of updates, look into the optional updates it finds and look for the Internet Explorer 11 update. Right click on this update and choose 'Hide Update'. This will stop it from appearing from now on. Hope this helps!

Thanks, great tech support. Why does everything have to be so complicated? The laptop I'm using for this doesn't go online but I will do all you suggest just in case and see what happens.

That's done it! How very marvellous. Couldn't back grade to IE10 as it seems to have been supplied with 11 but works anyway so not a problem. All I have to do now is put all this information to good use to diagnose my remaining window, radio and heated seat issues.
