2007 MK II C5 estate boot glass opening and 3rd brake light stays on

Hi,

After a bit of googling it seems this is fairly common where the 3 RD brake light will be dimly lit constantly, it lights up normally when braking and the light turns off about 5 minutes after locking the vehicle. Does anyone know a fix for it?

I would check the wires inside the plastic tube between the roof and the tailgate.......I bet they are broken

I've looked the best I can, even pulled the roof lining away and I can't seem to find a break, two wires are taped together. The other Citroen forum (where it lest me register, log and in but won't let me post?) have a thread that says it's possibly a bad fault? I just wondered if anyone else has had it and if so have they found an easy fix?

Edit to add. My tailgate glass won't open (never has) and there is condensation in the 3rd brake light lense. I'll try and open the glass and check the wiring in there.

Bigger mystery! Checked all wires, opened glass by manually pulling the lock behind the boot panel. Removed the break light, all looks fine. Decided to look into the glass not opening, found that the solenoid had been unplugged, and the plug taped to the wiring loom. Plugged it back in and the glass opening works fine. Strange! Anyone know why someone might have done that? I'm a bit nervous to leave it plugged in incase it was done for a reason.

Still no closer to fixing the brake light.
